Andy Carroll is a professional footballer who has represented England in international competition. He currently plays as a striker for West Ham United in the Premier League and is renowned for his strength, power, and height in the box.

Carroll was born in Gateshead in 1989 and went on to join Newcastle's youth team when he was 16.
The 6ft plus striker made his debut for the first team in November 2006 in the UEFA Cup in a game against Palermo. At the age of 17 years and 300 days he became the youngest player in the club's history to represent them in Europe.
In January 2007 he featured for Newcastle in the FA Cup in their clash with Birmingham in the third round. In February he came on as a substitute in the Premier League in his side's 1-0 defeat by Wigan.
Later that year in August, Carroll went on loan to Preston to gain some vital first team experience. He played 11 times for the Lancashire club, scoring just once during his time at Deepdale.
His first senior goal for Newcastle came against West Ham in January 2009. That prompted the club to offer him a new three and a half year contract.
When Newcastle were relegated to the Championship at the end of the 2008-2009 campaign, Carroll was handed the opportunity to help get them back into the Premier League. A lot of the club's high-profile strikers such as Michael Owen, Obefami Martins, and Mark Viduka were released to cut down on the wage bill. The Gateshead-born man was able to score 17 goals that season as the Magpies came straight back up as winners of the division.
The Englishman then made a solid start on his return to the top flight, scoring 11 goals in 19 games before Liverpool paid £35million for his services during the January
transfer window.
His two and a half year spell at Anfield did not go to plan; he was only able to find the back of the net on six different occasions in 44 appearances.
He was sent on loan to West Ham during the 2012-2013 campaign to play under former manager Sam Allardyce. That move then became permanent when, in August 2013, the East London club paid Liverpool £15million.
Carroll was part of the England squad for the Euro 2012 tournament. He scored in his side's group game against Sweden in their 3-2 win but is unlikely to feature in next year's World Cup in Brazil.
