Betfair's 12 Pays of Christmas LIVE: Sarr fails to register a shot in NLD

Everyday between December 13th and December 24th, Betfair will reward one lucky punter with £90 in free bets to celebrate our new 90 Minute Payout market this season.

If you ever need to refresh yourself on how 90 Minute Payout works, please click here, but in a nutshell, if your match odds 90 bets are winning as the clock hits 90:00 on any football match, your bet will be settled as a winner, regardless of goals that go against you in added time!

We will update this Live Blog each day announcing our winner for that day, so without further ado, here are your winners..

Day 12 - Sarr fails to register a shot

It's a very merry Christmas to Josh today who becomes our 12th and final winner of our 12 Pays of Christmas giveaway.

In a feisty North London Derby earlier this season, Josh correctly predicted Destiny Udogie to be shown a card, Tottenham to receive the most cards, and that both Son Heung-min and Bukayo Saka would get on the scoresheet.

Josh just needed a shot on target from Spurs' impressive midfielder Pape Sarr, but despite 26 shots being registered in the game, 11 of which were on target, Sarr failed to test the Arsenal goalkeeper at least once.

We feel that this was a very unlucky Bet Builder, so we're delighted to reward Josh with £90 worth of completely free bets on us.

That's the end of 12 Pays of Christmas for this year, so we'd like to thank everyone who entered and we'd like to wish all our readers and customers a very happy Christmas.

Day 11 - Fouls galore but not for Harry

We have another very unfortunate Bet Builder as the latest winner of our 12 Pays of Christmas giveaway, and it comes from a fiercely-contested game at Old Trafford earlier this month when Manchester United beat Chelsea 2-1.

Our brave punter picked out three players to commit at least two fouls, and a further five players to commit at least one foul.

There were some excellent selecitons in there, and seven of them were successful meaning our bettor just needed Harry Maguire to commit at least one foul.

Maguire has averaged around 1.2 fouls per game in the Premier Leauge this term, and in United's game against Newcastle just a few days earlier the England international committed an incredible five fouls, so it was an easy selection to include in his eight-leg Bet Builder.

But despite a well-contested game with tackles flying in, and United picking up four bookings alone, Maguire somehow avoided being punished for a foul, despite him being in the thick of the action as Chelea pushed for an equaliser.

So we're going to turn this losing bet into our latest winner of 12 Pays of Christmas and reward Ian with £90 worth of completely free bets on us. If you've submitted an entry to @Betfair on X then come back tomorrow to see if you're our final winner.

Day 10 - Paqueta not fouled enough at Anfield

Today's 12 Pays of Christmas winner comes from the midweek EFL Cup quarter-final, in which Liverpool thrashed West Ham 5-1 in front of a silent Anfield crowd. Well, silent if you believe Jurgen Klopp!

But we're happy to make some noise about this very unlucky five-leg Bet Builder which surely would have landed had Lucas Paqueta played more than the 33 minutes he was on the field.

Our bettor bravely included out-of-form Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez to register two or more shots on target, which comfortably landed, and he also included both teams to score as one of his selections, so he was thankful that West Ham's star man Jarrod Bowen found the back of the net with his team's only shot on target.

And so that just left player fouls bets, three of them to be precise.

Wataru Endo and Edson Alvarez both started the game, and both duly delivered the two fouls each our bettor required, which meant Paqueta needed to either not be used as a substitute (thus voiding that part of the bet builder), or come on a be fouled at least three times.

Perhaps to our bettor's annoyance, Paqueta replaced Said Benrahma in the 57th minute, meaning he had just over half an hour to be fould three times. Sadly, he was only fouled twice.

But fear not Dave, we think you deserve to be our Day 10 winner of our 12 Pays of Christmas giveaway, and as a result you can enjoy £90 worth of completely free bets on us.

Just remember to make some noise about it, we don't want Mr Klopp complaining of more silence now do we!

Day 9 - 4/91.44 Unbeaten in 15 Inter cost five fold

Today's winner on Betfair's 12 Pays of Christmas saw six out of seven legs of their acca land across a host of games in Europe including matches in the Bundesliga, Coppa Italia, La Liga and EFL Cup.

A selection of short priced winners went in without any fuss in Germany with Bayern Munich, Stuttgart and Bayer Leverkusen winning, and Eintracht Frankfurt v Borrusia Mochengladbach landing BTTS.

Also featuring in the bet included two other BTTS picks. Liverpool comfortably beat West Ham 5-1, whereas Celta Vigo edged out Villarreal in a five goal thriller (3-2).

The losing selection came when Inter Milan lost to Bologna in the Coppa Italia. What makes it worse for the punter was Inter Milan had gone 15 unbeaten before that game.

After coming so close to pulling off what would have been a glorious football five-fold, we decided it was only fair that the bettor be picked as our day nine winner and received £90 in free bets.

With three more winners to come, keep submitting your losing bets to @Betfair on X, the unluckier the better, and it could be you enjoying £90 of free bets on us.

Day 8 - 1/71.14 Benfica somehow let 17-fold down

Today's winner on Betfair's 12 Pays of Christmas is another barnstorming Acca - this time a 17-fold across Europe in which 16 legs landed priced at just over 142/1!

Our punter took advantage of using our 'Match Odds 90' market in all their selections, knowing any goals their selections conceded after 90:00 wouldn't affect their winning selections, thanks to 90 Minute Payout.

They had matches from England, Italy, Denmark, Portugal and Germany to name but a few, but, were unfortunately let down by Benfica, who drew 1-1 at home to little known Casa Pia.

Joao Mario had given Benfica the lead before half-time and having gone off before the match at 1/71.14, you can guess what sort of price they would have been at half-time to go on and win. Well, cut that price in your head once again with 10 minutes left with the score still at 1-0, before heartbreak for our punter.

Gaizka Larrazabal equalised in the 81st minute to deny Benfica a home win and deny our punter of a huge 17-fold victory. If only Benfica could have held on until at least 90:00, and then it would not have mattered if Casa Pia scored after that, because the selection would have already been settled thanks to 90 Minute Payout.

However, despite our punters heartbreak in such an audacious bet, we've picked them as our Day 8 winner, and rewarded them with £90 in free bets as a Christmas treat.

With four more winners to come, keep submitting your losing bets to @Betfair on X, the unluckier the better, and it could be you enjoying £90 of free bets on us.

Day 7 - Seconds away from a lock-in win before ref Hooper loses the plot

Even more so than horse racing, football is the ideal sport for multiple bets - or an acca as we like to call it - simply because of the wide range of football markets available and the 'one touch' ease of adding selections to your betslip.

That's exactly what our Day 7 winner, who we are calling Vk, did in our 12 Pays of Christmas giveaway when adding 18 selections to his betslip, combining 16 picks in Betfair's Match Odds 90 markets and two 'Both Teams to Score' selections.

With one leg of the bet voided, our bettor needed 17 legs to be successful to collect on a 66/167.00 acca, and he very nearly pulled it off.

Sixteen of the legs would go on to win, meaning a 3-3 draw at the Etihad Stadium would be the downfall of this nearly brilliant acca.

Vk just needed a full-strength Mancheter City team to beat a struggling, injury-ravaged Tottenham side on home soil to collect.

But after coming from a goal behind to lead, and then re-taking the lead in the 81st minutes, City's game dropped off, and Dejan Kulusevski headed home an equaliser for Spurs in the 90th minute of the match, providing hearbreak to our punter.

Had Spurs equalised just a minute later the 18-leg acca would have been a winner because Vk backed Man City in the Match Odds 90 market, meaing the Man City victory would have been locked in due to them leading as the clock struck 90:00.

As it turned out, Tottenham equalised just a fraction too early for our Day 7 winner, and we all know what could have happened in stoppage time when Jack Grealish was clean through on goal only for referee Simon Hooper to play an advantage, and then bizarrely change his mind.

So it's only right that we turn this losing bet into a winner and give Vk £90 worth of free bets on us as our latest 12 Pays of Christmas winner.

Day 6 - Barnes 'foul' sees loser turned into winner

Today's winner in Betfair's 12 Pays of Christmas comes from Portman Road and the weekend's East Anglian derby, which finished 2-2 last Saturday.

In what was a pulsating match, both teams took the lead at different moments before settling for the draw. You could argue both sets of fans would have left the stadium feeling fairly satisfied.

I'm not sure you could say that about all punters.

One Betfair punter correctly predicted four selections in their pre-game Bet Builder, with just one leg letting them down. They shrewdly fancied Jon Rowe to have a shot on target - which Rowe duly obliged by netting both of Norwich's goals at Ipswich - he is their top scorer after all.

Rowe's equaliser meant he also settled the BTTS - Yes leg of the Bet Builder, whilst a Borja Sainz foul before half-time ticked off a third leg of five. The only two remaining were a Wes Burn card - which he duly picked up after scoring the equaliser mid-way through the second half, and an Ashley Barnes foul in the first half.

Yes, by the time Burns was booked the bet was a loser, but then we see the footage of Ashley Barnes flying into the Ipswich GK as he looked to shield the ball out of play. If you haven't, go find it.

The ref did blow his whistle and give Barnes a stern talking to, but it seems he was happy enough to allow the goal-kick over the free-kick, meaning no foul was registered.

A very painful moment for both Václav Hladký (Ipswich GK) and punters alike.

However, Betfair have now picked this losing bet and turned it into a winner, as the punter can now enjoy £90 in free bets thanks to our 12 Pays of Christmas!

Why 90? Because we are celebrating our unique 90 Minute Payout offering on football this season. Make sure you read all about how your bets could be paid out as the clock hits 90:00, to avoid injury time heartbreak this season!

Day 5 - Ref shows United the cards but leaves Blues players alone

Football betting is so advanced these days that you don't always have to just back a team to win, predict the number of goals, or try and land a First Goalscorer bet. With punters now using social media to request prices, the introduction of bet builders, and sportsbook's creating their own bets, a wide range of markets are now available.

On the Betfair Sportsbook every top flight game has an #OddsOnThat section, where our football traders will price up many eventualities that you can combine in accas, and this is exactly what our Day 5 winner did.

Corners for each team, most shots, a team to win, a set number of goals and cards for each team were all part of a four-fold acca in the Premier League's recent midweek round of fixtures

The bet was going extremely well, with the first three legs winning leaving just an 8/111.73 #OddsOnThat selection to come in the game at Old Trafford between Manchester United and Chelsea.

Darragh was correct to think there'd be at least two goals in the game and both sides would win three or more corners, and you'd think that both sides receiving a card in such a high profile and often heated encounter would be inevitable.

But despite both United and Chelsea flying into tackles, and both teams committing 12 fouls each, it was the home side that went into the referee's book on four separate occasions, while the Blues ended the game without a single name taken.

We feel that wasn't fair, and very unlucky on Darragh, so our latest 12 Pays of Christmas winner can now enjoy £90 of free bets on us.

With seven more winners to come, keep submitting your losing bets to @Betfair on X, the unluckier the better, and it could be you enjoying £90 of free bets on us.

Day 4 - Villa concede to only shot on target against them

We all love an acca bet that includes a few bankers. Pick out some1/31.33 shots, put them in an accumulator, and sit back and watch them win in a canter as the odds suggest they should do.

Except, it rarely works out that way, even when you do the smart thing by backing a team to win in the Match Odds 90 market.

So we can't attach any blame for our Day 4 winner, because the bettor didn't do anything wrong, he just got very unlucky.

What looked like a certain winning treble turned into heartbreak just minutes from landing. Leverkusen at 3/101.30 were home and hosed thanks to a 5-1 win over Molde, and the 4/71.57 second leg of the treble on Over 2.5 Goals in Union SG v Liverpool had landed even before the players were sucking on their half-time oranges.

So step forward in-form Aston Villa, who at 1/31.33 looked banker material to win at Zrinjski in the Europa Conference League.

And it was all going to plan. Nicolo Ziniolo gave Villa the lead on the hour mark, and Unai Emery's men looked to be coasting to victory. They had 76% possession in the game, had twice as many shots as the hosts, and they recorded six shots on target to Zrinjski's one!

But you guessed it, just minutes away from the clock striking 90:00, which would have locked in the Villa win regardless of what happened in stoppage time, Zrinjski's sollitary shot on target - Matija Malekinusic's curling long range effort - flicked off a defender and looped into the net, denying Mike a winning treble.

However, our fourth winner in our 12 Pays of Christmas special can now enjoy £90 of free bets on us, simply because he was smart enough to wager in the Match Odds 90 market and just got unlucky.

So remember, continue to take advantage of Betfair's 90-minute Payout offer, and we might even reward you if you lose during the festive season. Check it out here.

Day 3 - Absolute scenes in the Derby de Lisboa

Ask any fan, the best way to win a derby match is a last minute winner. However, can you imagine being 1-0 down to your biggest rival in injury time, but STILL managing to win 2-1!? That's the stuff of dreams.

That's what happened in Lisbon last month when Benfica trailed Sporting 0-1 with only two of the six minutes added on left to play. However, goals from Joao Neves (90+4) and Casper Tengsteedt (90+7) turned the game completely on its head. Joy for Benfica, despair for Sporting.

There was even some despair, spare, for our punter, who needed Benfica and Sporting to finish in a score draw, as their final leg in their Acca was 'Draw & Over 1.5 goals' between the sides.

Having correctly predicted RB Leipzig to beat Freiburg, Lens to beat Marseille, Inter to beat Frosinone and Atletico Madrid to beat Villarreal, this punter awaited the Lisbon derby to cap a fantastic bet.

They must have been resigned to defeat anyway as Sporting looked to be heading for a famous 1-0 away win with minutes to go, but when Benfica equalised, they must have been jumping for joy thinking surely, there won't be another goal with so little time left.

Well, football did a football, and created memorable moments for Benfica fans who as mentioned, scored again and ruined our punters bet. Injury time heartbreak indeed.

However, our third winner in our 12 Pays of Christmas special can now enjoy £90 in free bets on us, as we continue our mission to reward those who have suffered stoppage time heartache.

Remember, those who backed Sporting in our Match Odds 90 market were also celebrating, as Benfica's goals didn't come until after 90:00, so the away win was settled. We of course also paid out on the home win too following the final result.

Just another benefit of 90 Minute Payout. Do check it out.

Day 2 - VAR controversy costs punter Bet Builder winner

Our second winner in Betfair's 12 Pays of Christmas comes from the much discussed Tottenham vs Liverpool match back in September. I'm sure Spurs fans remember it as an injury time winner thanks to a Joel Matip own goal, but the rest of the footballing world cannot get over the error made by VAR.

With the game at 0-0, and Liverpool down to 10 men, Luis Diaz was slipped in by Mohamed Salah to put the Reds 1-0 up, but the linesman's flag was quick to halt proceedings.

However, upon further review, VAR agreed with the on-field decision and the game was allowed to continue. We of course all know that was an incorrect decision, as the VAR officials thought the goal had been given on-field, and therefore very quickly said 'check complete'. The words everyone has grown to hate.

It is by far the biggest human error by a VAR official to date, and one that casued a storm amongst punters, fans, and players alike.

Our winner today beatifully selected four other legs that landed - Destiny Udogie to commit 2+ fouls & be carded, Curtis Jones to commit 2+ fouls and James Maddison to have 1 or more shots on target.

The only leg missing was Luis Diaz to have a shot on target, which was taken away from him by the incorrect refereeing decision. The Colombian wasn't able to manage another in a game where the Reds were down to nine men, and spent most of the game defedning.

Betfair have decided to right this wrong in our second winner in 12 Pays of Christmas, and the punter has been rewarded with £90 in free bets!

Why 90? Because we are celebrating our unique 90 Minute Payout offering on football this season. Make sure you read all about how your bets could be paid out as the clock hits 90:00, to avoid injury time hearbreak this season!

Day 1 - Mbappe penalty in 98th minute ruined Exchange play

Our first lucky winner in Betfair's 12 Pays of Christmas comes the UEFA Champions League tie between Paris SG and Newcastle on MD5. Let's not relive the Newcastle heartbreak, but Eddie Howe's side were seconds away from one of the club's most famous victories.

Aleksandar Isak had given Newcastle a first-half lead, and thanks to Nick Pope more than anyone else, they were set to move above their French rivals and in pole position to qualify for the knockout rounds.

Paris SG were then however, awarded a dubious penalty in stoppage time, which was converted by Kylian Mbappe in the 98th minute to secure a point for the French champions.

Today's winning punter shrewdly backed the Magpies on the Betfair Exchange at odds of 5.805/1, which looked a great call as the clock ticked to the final moments. However, if they chose to back Newcastle on the Sportsbook in the Match Odds 90 market, their bet would have settled as a winner as the click hit 90:00, so they could have sat back and relaxed for the duration of stoppage time, thanks to 90 Minute Payout!

I'm sure they won't make the same mistake next time.

We feel their pain, and therefore we have offered them £90 in free bets to make up for their Parisian disappointment.

If you have a similar injury time story, make sure to enter the competition here, and going forward, use Match Odds 90 in all your football bets to avoid injury time heartbreak.

What is 90 Minute Payout?

Betfair's 90 Minute Payout is a new feature across all football where winning 'match odds 90' bets are paid out as the clock hits 90:00, therefore goals scored in stoppage time will not affect your winning selections!

If your team is losing heading into injury time however, the bet remains live and you will be paid out too should your result also land! Betfair will pay out on both the match result at 90:00 and the full-time whistle.

All you need to do is place a pre-match match odds bet with the markets designated with the '90 icon' to get involved, and you can use the feature in all types of bets, including Accas, Bet Builders and all multiples!

A great example on how this works was MD12 in the Premier League, when Spurs travelled to Wolves to kick off the weekend and Man City went to Stamford Bridge to close the weekend.

With both Spurs and Man City winning as their matches entered injury time - and past the desired 90:00 mark, customers' bets which selected those sides to win were settled as winners! That is despite Spurs (somehow) going on to lose, and Man City also dropping points as Cole Palmer equalised in added time.

More than 50,000 combined bets were saved from those two matches alone, ranging from singles, to Bet Builders, and of course - Accas! However, it doesn't stop there; we also paid out on the actual result too of course, meaning we settled both Spurs AND Wolves to win, plus both City to win and The Draw in the same game at Stamford Bridge.

Next time you bet with us, make sure you use the 'match odds 90' market on pre-match selections to benefit from our fantastic 90 Minute Payout!
