Atletico Madrid v Bolton: Forlan can single-handedly win the tie
Nik Wardle goes through the betting as he previews the second leg of Bolton's UEFA Cup tie with Atletico Madrid
Atletico Madrid finished a point ahead of Panathinaikos in the group stages and are favourites to overturn the 1-0 deficit at home to Bolton. Betfair customers have the Spanish side at just [1.51] to win the game and Bolton out at [9.0].
Forlan and Reyes, former Premier League players, of course, along with Portuguese winger Simao will provide a pacey threat to Bolton. Atletico have had a good season in the Primera Liga thus far and are in a Champions League spot, despite surprisingly losing at home to Athletic Bilbao at the weekend. Forlan, in particular, will provide a danger. Rather like Fredi Kanoute, he's found Spain more to his palate than England and has four goals in the UEFA Cup already this season.
Bolton are still in a relegation dog-fight in the Premier League and much will depend if they can focus upon this tie, with a derby against Blackburn forthcoming on Sunday. I suspect (and hope) that Gary Megson will select his strongest available side and the unpredictability of Diouf and the strength and willing-running of Davies give them some hope.
I wouldn't back Bolton to go through but following on from Aguero's sending off in the first leg and an earlier melee, odds of [4.3] for a dismissal may be worth a punt.
