The Miami Heat star has won two NBA championships during his time in Florida, also collecting two Olympic gold medals representing the US team. Standing at 6 ft 8 in, 'King James' has used his physical attributes to the max throughout his career, proving that he is more than capable of playing in a number of forward positions.

After gaining nationwide publicity for his achievements playing for St. Vincent-St. Mary High School in his hometown of Akron, it was little surprise when James was selected with the first overall pick in the 2003 NBA Draft by the Cleveland Cavaliers. James led the franchise to their first NBA Finals appearance in 2007, only to lose to the San Antonio Spurs in a disappointing sweep. In 2010, James broke many Cavaliers fans' hearts when he decided to leave Cleveland for the ambitious Miami Heat, leaving the franchise as their all-time leading scorer.

While James managed to reach the NBA Finals in his first season in Miami, the season ended in disappointment when the Heat lost to the Dallas Mavericks to hand James his second Finals defeat. But James and Miami bounced back the following season, beating the Oklahoma City Thunder to give the Heat captain his first ever NBA championship victory, with James earning the NBA Finals MVP Award for his performance throughout the series.

James was influential in Miami's sensational defence of their crown in 2013, with the 28-year old adding another Finals MVP award to his name after leading the Heat to a 4-3 series win against the San Antonio Spurs. This cemented him as the best player currently playing in the NBA.

While the move from Cleveland to Miami appeared to cause the player's image some damage, it didn't stop him from cementing himself in the sport's history books, winning four NBA Most Valuable Player Awards, two NBA Finals MVP Awards, an NBA Rookie of the Year Award, and an NBA scoring title.

Combine all those achievements with his nine appearances in NBA All-Star teams, nine All-NBA teams, and five All-Defensive teams, and it's hard to argue against James potentially finishing his career as a genuine challenger to Michael Jordan's position as basketball's greatest-ever player.
