Humphries in flying form ahead of finals night
Reigning Premier League champion Luke Humphries has had a tremendous week, securing his spot at finals night, claiming his first nightly win in Birmingham and picking up a second Pro Tour title of 2026 on Monday. He'll be looking to carry that form on, to ensure he heads to London in the best frame of mind possible.
The 2024 World Champion is [10/3] to go back-to-back at next week's finals, with Luke Littler [5/6] to win the tournament for a second time. Welsh number one Jonny Clayton is the [11/2] outsider to get his hands on the trophy like he did in 2021, and Gerwyn Price, the only player to reach finals night yet to claim a Premier League title, is [4/1] to rectify that.
Cool Hand in contention
Luke Humphries has shown a lot of quality throughout this Premier League campaign but for large spells, there was something missing.
Changing the pace of his throw and slowing down saw him enjoy a bit more success before throwing closer to his normal pace in Birmingham. That ability to switch things up and alter the way he plays has helped him on a number of occasions throughout his career and it's doing so again at the moment.
As for his opponent Michael van Gerwen, he has been wildly inconsistent over recent weeks and when the pressure has intensified, he's not been able to rise to it and produce what's been required.
I thought the seven-time champion would have taken the confidence from picking up his first Pro Tour title in a year and a half into his crunch clash with The Iceman last week but instead it was a below par showing from the Dutchman who averaged just 88.
There's been a lot to like, at times, about the way MvG has played and his on stage demeanour but after making the perfect start to this campaign, missing out on finals night is yet another reminder that he can no longer rely on his game being there when he really needs it to be.
Missing the two Players Championship events prior to his final outing in this year's darting roadshow might be an indicator of where he's at right now and I'm not convinced that going out with a bang would mean a great deal to him.
Having rediscovered the winning formula, I'm backing Luke Humphries to extend his winning run to at least 11 games and win the match and throw 3+ 180s at evens
Back Luke Humphries to win & hit 3+ 180s
The Bullet battling to climb the table
It has been another Premier League season where Stephen Bunting has put in numerous eye-catching displays but got very little to show for those solid performances.
He's lacked the clinical edge of the players above him in the table and frustration will probably be one of the overriding emotions he feels as the league phase comes to an end.
Whilst it's not in his hands, The Bullet could still end the tournament in 5th place if he wins the night and Gian van Veen and Michael van Gerwen are both eliminated at the quarter-final stage.
I think this one has the potential to go close, I'm staying away from the outcome but am backing both to hit 3+ 180s each at the boosted price of [9/5].
Back both players to hit 3+ 180s
I'd also be tempted by 1+ bull finishes in the match due to how frequently The Ferret leaves 121 and has a dart at it at the end of the combination so I'm putting that with five or more maximums in the match at [9/4].
Back 5+ 180s & 1+ Bull Finishes in the match
