Saturday horse racing tips and insight

13:50, Sandown - Katie Midwinter: Gentleman can boot rivals aside

Top weight Gentleman Toboot appears well treated from a mark of 131 considering some of the form he has shown during his career so far. He's two from three over hurdles and has beaten multiple talented rivals in six starts under Rules, as well as in his sole point appearance.

In his point win, the son of Harzand beat now 125-rated Gaelic Pride by 12-lengths with now 131-rated Strong Link, a subsequent bumper winner over Thedeviluno, who has also finished second to Grade One winner I'll Sort That, further behind in fourth.

On Rules debut in a Newton Abbot bumper, the David Pipe-trained prospect chased home subsequent Formby Novices' Hurdle winner Idaho Sun, now rated 142, with now 126-rated Supreme Malinas in second and Kripticjim, a four-time winner since now rated 135, behind in fourth.

In recent outings, Gentleman Toboot has beaten the likes of A Pai De Nom, one of the current favourites for the Martin Pipe at the Cheltenham Festival on a mark of 129, and Klub De Reve, the recent Dovecote winner who has achieved a mark of 132.

Considering the way the form has worked out for Gentleman Toboot, it's possible he's a Graded horse in a handicap, and, although he'll need to improve on his disappointing effort when last seen, he is worthy of another chance and represents value at the prices.

14:05, Wolverhampton - Mark Milligan: Veteran Badri on a very good mark

Cheltenham may be rapidly approaching but we get a reminder on Saturday that new flat turf season is also on the horizon with ITV showing three cracking all-weather races from Wolverhampton.

The progressive Kullazain looks sure to be popular in the opening 6f handicap and his draw in stall 2 is certainly no disadvantage, but his price looks tight enough considering plenty needs to go right in this sort of contest.

I'm siding with the old stager Badri, who's on a very good mark nowadays based on the pick of his form and who has performed pretty well for the Michael Herrington stable this winter.

The selection is back down to 90, which was the rating he won off at Windsor last summer, and he'll appreciate stepping back up to 6f having got going too late over the minimum trip at Newcastle last time.

14:27, Sandown - Alan Dudman: Guiting can Star in Imperical Cup

With the six places on offer I am very happy with the each-way bet still on Gooloogong despite the drift to 22/123.00 and while Star Of Guiting needs a jolt in improvement to figure, he did beat Afadil in the Scottish County Handicap Hurdle with the 138-rated Williethebuilder further behind.

At 14/115.00 from the 16/117.00 he can hopefully figure.

14:42, Wolverhampton - Mark Milligan: Kingdom can Come good in Lincoln trial

The Lincoln Trial looks a belter but the one thing that stands out is that several of the fancied runners have got poor draws to overcome, including the two market leaders La Botte and Regal Ulixes, who are drawn 10 and 12 respectively.

With a relatively short run to the first turn I'm not certain I want to be either of these at the current prices as they'll both likely need some luck.

One who has fared much better with the draw is the in-form Kingdome Come, who is well berthed in stall three under Rossa Ryan.

Clive Cox's charge was right back on song when winning over 7f at Kempton last time and he'll have no issues stepping back up in trip, while a 3lb rise for that success still leaves him looking fairly treated on the pick of his form from last season.

15:08, Gowran Park - Katie Midwinter: Rebel can claim Gold at Gowran

Top weight Rebel Gold holds each-way claims for Patrick Foley in this contest on the back of two placed efforts over hurdles. He finished third to Downmexicoway over fences here earlier in the season, before reverting back over hurdles, placing third in both of his latest two runs at Naas in 13-runner and 16-runner fields, respectively.

The veteran is on an unchanged mark of 109 in the hands of 7lb claiming Alan O'Sullivan, and, although vulnerable to a younger improver at the grand age of 13, has valuable experience in his favour as well as proven course form.

Suited by conditions and proven over the trip, Rebel Gold warrants consideration in current form having been running well so far this term. He's 30lb below his last winning chase mark, when beating Dont Go Yet at Wexford last spring, 7lb below his last winning handicap hurdle mark, and is a Grade Three winner capable of holding his own in this contest.

15:15, Wolverhampton - Sam Turner: Progressive Prince fancied to rule

Prince Of India represents a team which have sent out a couple of tidy winners this week, including a first-time out 25/126.00 scorer and their Wootton Bassett colt was last seen when disappointing on soft ground in the Bengough Stakes at Ascot.

He is clearly a much better horse than that judged on his efforts in some warm sprint handicaps throughout the summer and having won over course and distance and finished placed over today's trip at Southwell, these conditions should suit ideally.

Prince Of India won his novice on his return to action last March so fitness ought not to be an issue and he looks capable of embracing the step up to Listed level.

15:35, Sandown - Paul Nicholls: Welcome To Cartries has a lovely chance

Put a line through his recent run at Ascot, the ground was too soft, and it just did not work out that day. He loves Sandown, has run well there, and better ground will be fantastic for him. If he had not pulled up last time, he would probably be favourite for this. If he is back to his best, and he is at home, he would have a lovely chance.

It is very tough to say which horse will win and which won't because these are competitive races, but I've got a feeling he will run very well for us on Saturday.
