Who will win the 2025 Betfair Chase?
Grey Dawning is the 6/52.20 favourite to win the 2025 Betfair Chase after five runners were declared for Saturday's Grade 1 at Haydock.
Paul Nicholls' Hitman and the Stuart Edmunds-trained Marsh Wren have been taken out of the running since Monday's entries, reducing the field from seven to five.
The biggest race of the National Hunt season so far takes place at 15:30 on Saturday 22 November.
Favourite takes on four in hot field for Betfair Chase
Anticipation is running high for The Betfair Chase as the favourite bids to improve on last season's second-place finish.
To do that, Dan Skelton's horse will have to get the better of dual winner of the race Royale Pagaille who is 5/16.00 to complete a hat-trick of victories.
Last year, Venetia Williams' 11-year-old overtook Grey Dawning on the run-in to win by two lengths. Skelton is hopeful his horse will not make the same mistake in 2025 and said earlier this week that Grey Dawning has "a bit of unfinished business" in the Betfair Chase.
He last ran on 3 April at Aintree where he came second to Gaelic Warrior at the Grand National Festival. That was also the last place where we saw Royale Pagaille who pulled up in the National.
The intrigue does not stop there and a well-backed runner is aiming to eclipse the favourite and the defending champion.
Haiti Couleurs 3/14.00 was the big mover in the market earlier this week. Rebecca Curtis's Irish Grand National hero moved from 12/113.00 and is still the second favourite.
The British horses appear to hold all the aces. The only Irish challenger in the field at this stage is Grade 1 Cheltenham Festival winning hurdler Stellar Story for Gordon Elliott at 12/113.00.

Betfair's Ryan McCue on Saturday's racing on Betfair Chase Day
Which horses have been the most backed antepost?
Woodhooh 5/42.25 from 2/13.00 (14:40 Ascot) and Handstands in the Betfair Chase (15:00 Haydock), 11/26.50 from as big as 33/134.00
Who do you expect the money to come for during the next few days?
I expect us to lay plenty of the double, The Jukebox Man & Grey Dawning. They were both very popular horses last season and look to hold big chances this weekend.
Which horses do you fear winning?
It will be any of the horses I've mentioned above, all have either been well-backed already or have the potential to be well-backed on the day, and of course that will mean they'll be included in many doubles and trebles, so if one wins, then another, then we could be in trouble.
What would be best/worst result for Betfair?
We laid a lot of Handstands at big prices (33/134.00 down) back in August time. He was obviously beaten at Carlisle on his comeback run but he is only 11/26.50 now and with that run behind him , I can't see him lacking for fitness in what is usually a gruelling race.
The Betfair traders' best bet for the weekend
Kabral Du Mathan on his first start for the Skeltons in the 13:15 Haydock.
