Ripon, 14:10 - Back Poet's Dawn @ 11/112.00

Top weight Poet's Dawn has proven on multiple occasions this year that age is but a number as the 11-year-old has recorded five successes, most recently when winning over course-and-distance from a 1lb lower mark.

He's partnered by capable 5lb claimer Jake Dickson here, and, although he hasn't been his best in his latest two runs, he could be capable of bouncing back to form in familiar surroundings.

The Tim Easterby-trained veteran is on a workable mark and has shown he still retains plenty of ability. He's effective over the distance with proven course form too, and could give a good account of himself in his 135th racecourse start.

Brighton, 17:06 - Back Twilight Guest E/W @ 11/112.00

Course-and-distance winner Twilight Guest is on a low mark from which he could be competitive under Silvestre De Sousa.

He has shown glimpses of good form this term, particularly when a good fourth at odds of 40/141.00 behind Bohemian Breeze over course-and-distance in June, and, although he hasn't quite fired this term, he could be worth keeping onside.

Having shown he still retains some ability, the six-year-old could be capable of a resurgence. He has plenty of experience at this venue for George Margarson, and could outrun his odds back in handicap company.

Ripon, 17:18 - Back Dereham @ 5/16.00

Likeable gelding Dereham is one to note from a mark of 52 with 7lb claiming Molly Keegan-Price aboard for John Berry in this two-mile staying contest.

He's back on his last winning mark and, although winless so far this year, hasn't been running badly of late and put in a creditable effort on the July Course recently when a two-and-three-quarter-length fourth to Prince Quattro at odds of 14/115.00.

From a workable rating stepping back up in distance, the experienced 10-year-old could put in a bold bid. He's a solid performer on his day who could go well.

Bet of the day: Lingfield, 17:25 - Back Balon d'Or @ 7/24.50

Five-year-old gelding Balon d'Or finally returned to the winners' enclosure when successful over course-and-distance here recently, and could double up from a 3lb higher mark. He remains on a workable rating of 61 and, having had a recent confidence booster, could continue improving having won from a higher rating in the past.

The son of Kodiac had put in a number of eye-catching runs previously since joining the Simon Dow yard, and proved worth keeping the faith in when returning to the winners' enclosure in his latest outing. He may still be worth keeping onside and, with proven form over the trip at the track, can pose a threat once again under Paddy Bradley.
