Horse racing tipster Mark Milligan has taken a look at the racing on Tuesday and has two bets on the Betfair Sportsbook...

  • Mark has a pair of selections on a low-key Tuesday

  • Prescott stayer to be perked up by headgear

Ripon, 17:18 - Back Si White @ 13/82.63

The complexion of this 2m contest changed after I'd written my original column, with the in-form Femme Fatale being declared a non-runner.

I had a concern as to whether she could reproduce her recent all-weather efforts on rain-softened turf anyway, and it seems connections did too.

One who shouldn't have any issue with easy ground is Sir Mark Prescott's German-bred Si White, who himself has only run on the all-weather to date but ought to relish a switch to turf.

Off the mark over 11f at Southwell in July, he has been a little disappointing upped in trip on his last two starts, but with the blinkers he wore last time switched out for a visor, it would be no surprise if his shrewd trainer gets him right back on track here.

The selection has a slew of entries over the coming days and he could be about to take off in true Prescott staying-handicapper fashion.

Wolverhampton, 20:30 - Back Sevenkingsmustdie @ 6/17.00

The chance of Tuesday's second selection is much less obvious and, in truth, it's probably a bit of a stab in the dark, but one that could pay off at a nice price.

The Alan King-trained Sevenkingsmustdie - named after the excellent Netflix movie that brought The Last Kingdom series to a thrilling climax (if you haven't yet seen it, then make sure you do) - looks to have been brought along quietly with a view to handicaps.

In truth, the selection hasn't shown much either in bumpers or in his three starts on the flat, but he does have a nice pedigree being by Sea The Stars and has been handed a basement mark of just 57 for his first foray into handicap company.

It's also worth noting he cost a packet (£425k as a yearling), so there's an expectation that he really ought to be showing something sooner rather than later, and a step up in trip from 1m 2f to 1m 4f here may well show him in a better light.

We could be on a hiding to nothing, but at 6/17.00, Sevenkingsmustdie looks worth taking a chance on in a weak-enough race.
