Horse Racing Tips: Wincanton duo appeal for a Monday multiple at 11/1

Wincanton - 15:08: Back Committee Of One

Committee Of One has to carry a penalty in the 15:08 Mares' Handicap Chase and she certainly will act on the testing ground.

She scored at Ffos Las over 2m4f last time and her trainer Tom Gretton said she was close to retiring, but with the rain still not abating, they will try and sneak one more victory out before her career ends. Hopefully she can go out on a high as Gretton said Ffos Las was her Gold Cup.

Her stamina was key last time as she outstayed her rivals, albeit in a pretty poor race.

She kept on well and raced in a prominent position throughout, with the drop down to 2m4f at a testing track really benefitting her as previously she had raced over 3m2f.

Grasse D'Oliverie runs from top weight and is 18lb clear on official ratings, but she's badly out of form while the favourite Firefly Lane hasn't had many starts over fences, but she's been beaten off marks in the 70s and Gretton appears on the hotlist for trainers at 2-8 recently at 25%.

Wincanton - 15:38: Back Gustavian

We're sticking at Winkers for the second selection and Anthony Honeyball's Gustavian was backed into 9/43.25 this morning on the Sportsbook to take the 15:38, and the trainer is second on the Wincanton winners' list this season with nine at 20%.

The 9yo has struggled a bit this season but has faced much stiffer opposition than today and this is quite a substantial drop in class for the top weight.

He's been behind Dan SKelton's Heltenham on his last two runs both at Newbury and his jumping let him down against the stiff fences at the Berkshire venue.

Easier fences today should see him get into a better rhythm and he can make the running.

He faces some in-form types here, but he started the season from 137 and runs off an 11lb lower mark today so he's well treated with the class drop.
