Volatile Analyst can go one better tonight

Oakley unexposed as a stayer around Dundalk
-
I fancied Volatile Analyst for the column for his last run and he was done by a nose at the track. A rise of 2lb isn't exactly harsh up to 82 and he is still well treated to go close this evening at Dundalk.
He was nutted by David Marnane's Cash Or Crypto and didn't help his own chances by hanging late on, but it was a decent run from wide - indeed both came off the turn towards the stands' side.
That was his first real piece of form since leaving Keith Dalgleish and Ado McGuinness does have a knack of getting these ex-UK horses to win.
In his prime, Volatile Analyst was a Listed winner in 2022 and was rated 103 in his salad days. With 7f form (and winning 7f form in the UK), he is a fair enough price considering he is still lightly-raced on the All-Weather with just a handful of starts.
Oakley looks tailor-made for a step up to 1m4f this evening and looks a big price at 15/28.50 for the 20:15, and he drifted too on this Sportsbook this morning from 13/27.50.
He had form in Germany over 1m7f so he should stay well, and he certainly finished off strongly to win last time at Dundalk over 1m2f.
Tonight will be his fourth start for trainer Anthony Mullins, and I would be surprised if the yard couldn't chisel out at least another win from his current exploitable mark - especially up to tonight's distance.
He has been ridden handily in his runs to date with Mullins and this will be just his second start on the All-Weather.
