Trainer Stuart Edmunds appears to have drawn stumps already on the chasing career of Bubble Dubi, who recently made his first start over fences, and while the ground signalled a return to winter, his jumping signalled a disaster and he was left trailing near last with a heavy defeat when sent off the 11/10 favourite.
He jumped so poorly at Uttoxeter you have to put a line through it, and back over hurdles today will hopefully see him in a better light.
The 6yo has put in the odd bad one too in his light career, but he scored so well with the way he travelled through the race at Stratford last season, I woud rather judge him on that.
He also finished third in a valuable Class 2 at Haydock last term against better opposition to what he will face today, and had it not been for two messy jumps at the final two, he could have got closer.
Lightly-raced with just six starts, he can still be in the progressive bracket and while the ground will be unseasonably good, he seems to acts on good to soft and can expect a better showing today.
Doctor Khan Junior was a winning selection for the column when he scored at Newcastle last month and I was quite taken with the way he went through the race, and he looks a major contender at Wolves tonight.
He won over 7f from a mark of 73, but looked ahead of that mark with a dead straightforward performance.
Previously he had competed in a couple of good races at York and his trainer Geoff Oldroyd has done well to get him back as he's fractured his tibia on more than occasion.
He's drawn well on the inside and we have seen a few recent winners at Wolverhampton with Newcastle form, and this sharp 7f might just suit him a little better as he has more than enough pace for a sharper track.
