Paul Nicholls Superboost
If you fancy Paul's Larchmont Lass to finish in the top seven in the 15:15 at Newbury today then you can back it at the super-boosted price of 1/12.00 (from 8/131.61.
We need to get on the scoreboard this week after a few big prices in the doubles have failed to hit the target, and Into The Park is one of my tips for the Saturday ITV Tips column and I think he can run a big race today in the 14:10 at Newbury.
The ground has improved from earlier this week and this morning the official description was good to soft, which possibly may have influenced the drift from 5/23.50 now out to 9/25.50, but he has got winning form on good to soft and there shouldn't be any fears there.
Indeed, that victory on the ground described came in January at Newbury over 2m in his Maiden Hurdle success and he was an emphatic winner by 8L from Two To Tango.
He then won in soft conditions at Taunton on his next start over 2m and hit a big price in-running at 22 having been sent off the short price favourite - much to do with the sharp track.
His trainer Philip Hobbs has said he'll suit a more galloping track and the step up in distance is a big plus for the horse.
This will be only his second handicap run and he has a lot of scope in terms of improving his rating of 126.
Smiling Getaway is another who appears in this weekend's Saturday ITV Tips column, and she's also drifted from yesterday from 6/17.00 to 8/19.00.
Over 2m5f today, this looks a race for mares with a bit of depth, and she will find conditions today less taxing than her effort in a Grade 2 at Sandown back in February on heavy going - and Sandown heavy in the winter on the hurdles' track is brutal.
For a young horse, that wasn't easy and she finished back in third.
Previously she landed two mares' races at Warwick and Ludlow easily. Wins over 2m5f and 2m3f, she holds stamina and while I have seen other quarters say she doesn't look particularly well handicapped, I would disagree and while there are plenty of improvers in the field, her stamina is a big asset.
