Alan Dudman continued in form with a 9/4 single yesterday that won by 14L, his 11th winner in 12 days. He heads to Doncaster to kick-start Wednesday's Sportsbook double...
Scarborough selection looks a fair bet
Back Equilateral @ 3.55/2 in the 16:10 at Doncaster
Well Educated ran out a 14L 9/4 winner for the column yesterday, displaying once again why Hexham form stands up. He was the column's 11th winner in 12 days, although Bird On A Wire was nowhere near to being the 12th as rarely, Don McCain couldn't help us out.
The start of the St Leger meeting on Wednesday headlines the action, and it's been a good quality week of racing so far. You can click here to read what Ryan Moore has to say about his mounts.
I fancied Charlie Hills' Equilateral last time out in the Group 2 sprint at Goodwood, so with a drop in class quite considerably into Listed company for the Scarborough Stakes (a race he won in 2019), therefore I have to make him the bet now with easier opposition.
He wasn't beaten far (4L) behind his stablemate Khaadem in the King George Stakes, but if he runs anywhere near to this third in the Sapphire Stakes at the Curragh in June, he surely has to win this as he only went down over 1L and the excellent Mooneista was second - and she's in for Irish Champions Weekend.
A return to Doncaster is a huge plus as his record here reads 131, and these are his peak conditions which are a level track at 5f on good ground.
The 7yo has been a great sprinter for connections as he's been on a three-figure rating for nearly the entirety of his career. That's testament to his soundness and also his trainer, who is 2-11 at 18% at Doncaster this term.
I think he'll get back on track today.
Prakasa won't make the same mistakes again at Kempton
Back Prakasa @ 2.47/5 in the 19:30 at Kempton
Quite how Prakasa didn't win on his debut at Southwell last time is a mystery - hitting 1.071/14 in-running and getting chinned on the line by a Sir Mark Prescott runner who went as high as 240.0239/1 in-play.
Prakasa did a lot right with the way she travelled in that race, but she also did a lot wrong on her debut. She wore a hood at Southwell and showed her inexperience by fluffing her lines leaving the stalls and lost many lengths, and she also ran around under pressure in the closing stages, having a look to her left and right and not charting a linear passage.
However, the effortless way she zipped from last to second in the opening couple of furlongs was impressive, and I fear she might have chased the front-runner harder, thus setting up the win for the Prescott closer who was under pressure from some way out.
She's by the Ghurka, and his offspring at 1m3f at Kempton have a 1-4 25% record at the track. Prasaka has a good staying pedigree too with a classy 1m6f winner in there, so the drop 1f won't present an issue.
