Aintree Day Three Tips: Rely on Skelton and Pauling for a National Day 60/1 double

Trainer Dan Skelton
Trainer Dan Skelton could land another big handicap on Saturday

Alan Dudman was in great form yesterday with a 33.28 BSP Topham winner and an each-way double landed. He has two more selections for Saturday...

  • Honor Grey can improve again for Pauling off 128

  • Skelton to land another handicap pot

  • Alan landed an each-way double yesterday and a 33.28 winner

Rachael Blackmore Superboost

Day one of Aintree saw Betfair's Superboost land as Rachael Blackmore and Bob Olinger finished in the top two on Thursday, and today we are boosting her once again onboard Minella Indo in the Grand National!

You can back Rachael and Minella Indo for a Top 10 finish in the 16:00 today at Aintree at the Superboost price of 2/13.00! (was 5/42.25).

Aintree - 13:20: Back Honor Grey

We open up Grand National Day in Liverpool with a tough old looking 3m Handicap Hurdle and a big field, and with Dan Skelton proving once again what a good target trainer he is in these handicaps (with Kateria winning yesterday), there's a chance that West Balboa is going to go off too short.

Skelton has also won this race twice in the past four seasons.

But I am going with the each-way angle again as we have five places on the Sportsbook and it served us well with What's Up Darling nabbing fourth on Friday, and Honor Grey at 14/115.00 will do.

He came back after a long absence to win at Ascot in February - his first run for nearly 500 days. It showed again what a good trainer Ben Pauling is. Despite fluffing one of his hurdles late on, he showed a good attitude in that to deserve a 7lb rise.

The selection does hold some course and distance form in Liverpool too when winning in good style back in 2022. He travelled really well that day and looked a horse for some nice handicaps, and his jumping was spot on too.

The ground that day was described as dead. He won't mind drying ground and he has been excellent since the blinkers were attached.

Aintree - 14:30: Back The King Of Ryhope

The field isn't so deep for another of the handicaps and King Of Ryhope is just about acceptable at 9/25.50 for Dan Skelton and he has to have a big chance judged on his run last time.

He ran in the Grade 2 Reynoldstown at Ascot and travelled well and looked to be holding leading claims in the final stages and hit 2.111/10 in-running having been sent off 10s.

Unfortunately he clouted the last fence and it was game over, but on that effort in Graded company, his mark of 137 could be pretty lenient.

He jumped well at Chepstow earlier in the season and was placed in Grade 2 company as a hurdler. He can make his mark in handicaps and has the look of one lined up for this.

I am really looking forward to seeing Mr Meggit run later in the Grade 2 Bumper - as it's a race one of my favourites Megastar won years ago for Gary Moore. He's 9/43.25 and never came off the bridle at Doncaster in pretty testing going, and I am hoping he turns out to be a good one. If you include him in the treble, that would be a nice return.

Good luck for the National today!
