Cheltenham Race – Champion Hurdle

The Champion Hurdle is the main event on day one of Cheltenham Festival. Nicky Henderson’s charge, Epatante, will be the leading contender to repeat her feat from last year, although there will be challengers from the field.

No trainer has had greater success in the Champion Hurdle than Henderson, winning the crown eight times. Buveur D’Air was his last great horse, which won the race in successive years in 2017 and 2018. Epatante could match her former stable-mate and then set her stall out for a third triumph in 2022.
