World Wide Technology Championship Tips and Predictions

The Punter: Kizzire can follow a former Patton

Steve Rawlings: "I'm away until Thursday so I won't get a chance to look at the market leaders or confirm any selections but Dave Tindall will be back later in the week with his each-way fancies and he's also standing in for me with the Find Me a 100 Winner column.

"Look out for both of those two pieces but in the meantime, here are a couple to consider when the market does open.

"Having missed six of his previous eight cuts, the recent Procore Championship winner, Patton Kizzire, was in poor form when he finished 15th here 12 months ago and I fancy him to contend.

"There was almost a month in-between his two Korn Ferry Tour wins back in 2015, and he won the Sony Open just two months after he'd won this event in 2017 so in his fourth start following his impressive five-stroke victory in California, he may just be re

Each-Way Tips: Might Hayden be an 80/1 Springer?

Dave Tindall: "At 123rd in the FedEx Cup, Hayden Springer is in even great danger of losing his card. But, as with Lashley, this isn't just about finding something due to incentive - even though that could easily prove a big factor.

"Starting with Paspalum form, Springer hasn't played on it much but earlier this year in Puerto Rico he shot 68-65-69-68 to finish tied third, his best finish of this season.

"Springer doesn't win any awards for consistency and you'll find a bunch of missed cuts when perusing his form.

"But another reading of his last 10 results shows a trio of top 10s - a 10th at the Rocket Mortgage, seventh in the John Deere Classic and eighth at last month's Sanderson Farms Championship where he ranked 1st for Strokes Gained: Putting.

"At the John Deere, he carded a magical 59, becoming just the 13th player to shoot a sub-60 on the PGA Tour. It came after a run of seven missed cuts in his previous eight starts.

"His finishes in those events all bode well for someone trying to rack up the birdies - he was 21-under at the John Deere and 19-under in the Sanderson Farms.

"The pattern of his play shows that when he's on, he's on, so let's hope it's a 'go' week for Springer and that he can do us a favour at 80s".

Big-Price Trading Tips: Way to go Whaley

Dave Tindall: "Van Rooyen was 125th and bang on the bubble in the FedEx Cup standings going into this event last year and Vince Whaley, currently sat precariously at 120th, faces a similar fight to save his card.

"Just six starts ago, Whaley went close to a first PGA Tour win of his career when finishing runner-up at the Barracuda Championship in July so hopefully that experience will help him if he gets into a similar position again.

"Putting was key to success at this venue last year so it bodes well that Whaley ranked 1st for SG: Putting at the Shriners last time and was fifth for SGP at the Sanderson Farms two starts earlier.

"He finished tied 16th in both those events while he has some decent form on paspalum grass too: 23rd at the Corales Puntacana and 18th in Puerto Rico this year while he's been a runner-up on that surface at the Korn Ferry's Great Abaco Classic in the Bahamas."

Course and current form stats

Andy Swales: "This week's event has failed to attract any of the world's top-25 golfers, which means No 33 Cameron Young 22/123.00 is the highest-ranked player in a mediocre field.

"Young is a former world No 13, but remains without a victory at this level.

"The 27-year-old from New York State has suffered a dip in form during the past six months, but could certainly turn it around this coming week.

"Eight times he's stood on a PGA Tour podium, but never on the top step."

Abu Dhabi Championship Tips and Predictions

The Punter: Fresh Hatton fancied to contend

Steve Rawlings: "Last year's winner, Victor Perez, won the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship back in 2019 and England's Tyrrell Hatton won that event for a third time last month.

"In two previous visits here he's finished sixth and seventh and he'll feel he really should have finished higher on debut back in 2022 given he sat fourth after round one.

"Hatton finished strongly with a 65 on Sunday to climb from 33rd to seventh last year and after falling away in round two in 2022, he rallied from outside the top 20 with a round to go to finish sixth.

"We haven't seen Hatton since his victory in Scotland, but he'll be much fresher than he was on his last two visits here. On both occasions he kicked off the year here in January, two months after playing in the Dubai World Championship.

"This place clearly suits him, and another top finish looks assured."

Each-Way Tips: Follow the links to 100/1 Brown

Matt Cooper: "Daniel Brown's golf career has been transformed since this event was last played at the beginning, rather than end, of last season. Then he was a new boy on the circuit but he was consistent and landed a win at Galgorm Castle in the summer.

"This year he has not added to the trophy cabinet but he has regularly impressed - and frequently on the links or on versions of linksland.

"It started with third place at Heritage La Reserve, a respected new Louis Oosthuizen links course in Mauritius. He later added fourth at St Francis Links in South Africa.

"He carded 65 to start both the Scottish Open (when T61st) and a week later the Open (when tenth). He was then fourth at Royal County Down.

"It's a solid body of work in these types of conditions and he can contend again at three figures, especially off third place last time out in Spain.

"Interestingly I asked him at Royal Troon about that fondness for seaside golf and he admitted he didn't much like it as an amateur but since joining the pro ranks that had all changed. Long may it continue (well, at least for the next week)."

First-Round Leader Tips: Picks from 45/1 to 80/1

Dave Tindall: "Daniel Brown is in the third group out (07:39) and that could be an ideal spot for the Englishman to make an early mark again.

"Brown hit the headlines at Royal Troon back in the summer when taking the first-round lead at the Open thanks to a 65. Rather unnoticed, he'd also started out with a 65 in the previous week's Scottish Open even though he missed the cut there.

"At Troon, Brown showed his love of links golf by staying in the hunt all week (he was second after 54 holes before dropping to 10th) and he should really enjoy this week's venue, Yas Links.

"Since Troon, he's again shown up strongly on the links with a fourth place in the Irish Open at famed Royal County Down. He was ninth after round one in that September event.

"Most recently, Brown burst out of the blocks with a 63 at the Andalucia Masters in Spain, finishing second after 18 holes and third after 72."

Course and current form stats

Andy Swales: "Three players that enjoy both decent current form, as well as a strong history in this part of the world, are Rasmus Hojgaard 20/121.00, Rory McIlroy 9/25.50 and Tommy Fleetwood 17/29.50.

"Hojgaard is close to securing his playing rights on next year's PGA Tour where he will join his twin brother Nicolai.

"His last six starts in tournaments staged in the Middle East have all yielded top-12 finishes.

"Meanwhile, three of Fleetwood's seven 'European Tour' victories have happened on the Arabian Peninsula including this year's Dubai Invitational.

"The world No 10 has been in strong form since claiming his Olympic silver medal at the start of August.

"As for McIlroy, he's won six events in the United Arab Emirates."
