San Lorenzo v Sao Paulo
Thursday 03 August, 23:00
We're off to Argentina for Thursday night's entertainment, because San Lorenzo are up against Brazilian side Sao Paulo in the first leg of their Copa Sudamericana knockout clash. The hosts are having a strong domestic season, and I fancy them to at least be in contention at the end of this first leg.
San Lorenzo are third in the Liga Profesional in Argentina, and even though they have lost their last two games in the league, their general form is strong. The Saints have lost just three of their last 19 league matches. In the Copa Sudamericana, San Lorenzo won just two of their six group games, but in the first knockout round they beat Colombian side Independiente Medellin home and away.
Sao Paulo are eighth in Brazil's Serie A, and they have won just two of their last six games in all competitions. Their form on the road is a concern, with just three wins in their last 12 away matches. Their last away win in the league was back in November.
San Lorenzo are a tough side to beat, so I'll back them to win or draw, Over 1.5 Goals and Over 7.5 Corners at 2.6413/8 on the Sportsbook's Bet Builder. 15 of Sao Paulo's last 20 games have featured at least two goals, and Sao Paulo's league games average nearly 11 corners.
