Mohun Bagan did us proud yesterday, as their 4-0 win at Bengaluru landed our Asian Handicap bet with room to spare. We'll switch our attention back to European football now, as we check out Lens' trip to Metz in Ligue 1.
Metz are still deep in relegation danger, even though they gave second-placed Brest a major scare last weekend. Metz were 4-1 down after an hour, but made the hosts have a wobble and got it back to 4-3 before just falling short.
Metz are five points from total safety, and three behind Lorient, who currently occupy the relegation play-off spot. Defending effectively has been a big issue for Les Grenats, as they have leaked 48 goals in just 28 games. That shouldn't be a huge surprise, as Metz were promoted last season. 71-year-old coach Laszlo Boloni was the man to take them up, and now he's battling to keep them up.
Metz have lost their last three games, conceding 11 goals in the process, and I think Lens can create plenty of chances against them. The Blood and Gold are still in the mix for European qualification, despite taking just a point from their last three games against Nice, Lille and Le Havre.
If Lens do play well, striker Elye Wahi is likely to be at the heart of their attacking play. The former Montpellier forward is in great form, having netted in six of his last nine competitive matches. At 2.546/4 to score at any time, he looks a good bet.
