It's a top of the table clash in the Irish Premier Division on Thursday as Dundalk look to try and close the gap on leaders Shamrock Rovers.

Dundalk finished 30 points behind champions Shamrock Rovers last season, but can close the gap down to just five points with a win as we start the second half of the season.

They also have a game in hand on their rivals, and as this is the third of four meetings this season there'll still be one more chance for Dundalk to take points off Rovers themselves if they get into title contention.

Dundalk have won the last four and have lost just one in 11 - although that came in their last game against Rovers.

If the champions do have a weakness it's on the road, where all three of their league defeats have come, and they've won just one of the last three away games as they visit a Dundalk side that's unbeaten at home this season.

Despite this, visiting Shamrock Rovers are favourites for the match but Dundalk could run them close at a decent price of 3.814/5 and the draw at 3.412/5 is of interest as it'd do Rovers just fine and this is a game Dundalk just can't afford to lose.

To that end, the half-time draw at 2.111/10 appeals as does the under 2.5 goals at 1.84/5 - given there's been just two goals in the last three meetings.

The corner stats are interesting here as in the games held at Dundalk's Oriel Park they've really been flowing in recent meetings, with the totals in the last six encounters here reading 12, 13, 15, 14, 13, 11.
