Feyenoord are odds-on favourites to beat Lazio in the Champions League on Wednesday evening and while I'm not convinced by that price, it does go to show how well they've started the season.

The Dutch have lost just once - 3-2 away to Atletico Madrid - so far and have won seven and drawn two in their domestic league, scoring 32 goals in the process.

Of course, brickbats can be thrown at the Eredivisie but Feyenoord have done well enough in their games in this competition.

Celtic were beaten 2-0 in Rotterdam, while that trip to Madrid saw them lead twice, have more possession and out-shoot their hosts 17-7.

Shots make up one of two value angles which catch the eye in this match and the pair combined make a nice-looking 6/17.00 Bet Builder.

Let me explain.

Leg 1: David Hancko 2+ shots

Centre-back David Hancko has been racking up the shots for Feyenoord this season.

The Slovakian has had at least one in nine of his 11 games so far but the most tempting play is to back him for 2+ at 15/82.88 - a bet that's landed in six of those 11 matches.

Of course, it's easy to say Feyenoord are flat-track bullies in a lot of their games but the 2+ bet landed against Celtic and it's not difficult to make a case for Hancko delivering again here against a side who arrive in Rotterdam sitting only ninth in Serie A after a disappointing start to 2023/24.

Like many centre-back, Hancko is a big aerial threat from set pieces but, crucially, he's also a player often trusted with free-kicks around the box where he can easily tick off a shot.

Leg 2: Mats Wieffer 2+ fouls

I'll pick Hancko 2+ shots and add a fouls bet - namely Mats Wieffer to commit 2+.

This has landed in eight of the midfielder's last 11 starts for club and country and the view that this promises to be one of the more competitive Feyenoord games this season only adds to the confidence.

Throw in German referee Tobias Stieler - in the top five for fouls-per-game in the Bundesliga this season - and Weiffer gets the nod.

This props double pays around 6/17.00 which, given the data involved, looks overpriced.
