Goals, corners and a two-goal start for visitors
Fenerbahce v Galatasaray
Sunday 24 December, 16:00
We got the Atletico Madrid win we wanted yesterday, but alas a red card for Caglar Soyuncu on 70 minutes saw our man Antoine Griezmann sacrificed early, so he didn't get to continue his fine scoring form. It's our final selection of the year before our pal Tobias takes the reins on the big day onwards, so I'll wish you all a delightful festive season.
We'll go out with a bang, because Turkish title rivals Fenerbahce and Galatasaray are doing battle in their home city of Istanbul, and there's been very little to choose between them this season.
Galatasaray are the reigning champions, and they are only behind their old foes Fener on goal difference. They competed well in the Champions League group stage, taking the qualification race down to the final game, and they'll compete in the Europa League after Christmas. An array of attacking talent has yielded 14 league wins in 16 games and 32 goals at an average of exactly two per game.
Mauro Icardi continues to be Gala's go-to guy in attack, with the Italian having smashed in 12 goals in the league already. Wilfried Zaha has thrived in his first season in Turkey, scoring five times in the league, while Dries Mertens, Hakim Ziyech and Kerem Akturkoglu all carry a goal threat.
Fenerbahce have been even better in attack (44 goals), and their recent wins at Besiktas (3-1) and Kayserispor (4-3) showcased their attacking talent. 37-year-old Edin Dzeko continues to be a top-level striker, with 12 goals in 15 league appearances, while Dusan Tadic has excelled since joining from Ajax.
I think this will be a raucous affair between two sides who like to play on the front foot. I'll use the Sportsbook's Bet Builder to back Over 1.5 Goals, Galatasaray +2 on the Handicap and eight or more corners at 1.9420/21.
