Lucas Boye should cause problems for the Girona defence

Our football props column heads to Spain again on Tuesday evening with goals expected when Elche host Girona.

  • BTTS has landed in last 10 Girona games
  • Herrera's new role leads to shots
  • 8/5 Bet Builder results

The latest round of La Liga matches gets under way on Tuesday evening with a crunch clash towards the bottom of the table.

Elche sit rock bottom and remain winless but they will doubtless be targeting a home game with 14th-placed Girona to break that duck.

Girona have notably had defensive problems, conceding 21 times in 13 games so far, so they are far from watertight.

With only six teams having scored more goals than their 18, it's easy to see why a whopping 85% of their games have seen both teams score, including the last 10.

Elche may have struggled for goals but BTTS has also landed more often than not in their matches this season, including five of the last seven.

That option looks worth backing at 20/23.

To bolster the price, let's add Yangel Herrera for 1+ shot.

With Oriol Romeu signed to play the holding role in the summer, the Girona midfielder, on loan from Manchester City, has enjoyed a more attacking role this season.

As a result, he's landed this in all of his away games so far, while over all he's hit a shot in six of his eight starts.

That pushes the price to 8/5.

Fuertes flashes cards

For those seeking something bigger, maybe the card markets are for you.

Elche and Girona sit fourth and ninth respectively when it comes to yellow cards received, while Pablo Gonzalez Fuertes has been one of the strictest referees in La Liga this season, averaging well over six cards per game.

The market is clued up to this though with over 6.5 cards only even money.

There are also short prices in the player-card market although one price which may offer some value is the 5/2 about Girona centre-back Santiago Bueno.

He's been carded twice in the last five games but most importantly he's going to be up against Lucas Boye in this one.

Boye is a player mentioned in this column before, notably for his dribbling skills.

While the Argentine has played more centrally this season, his dribbling numbers remain high - he's in the top 10 in the Primera Division - and Bueno is a man who likes to commit to a tackle.

We got greedy last night with a card bet and subsequently missed out so, with that in the back of the mind, I'll opt against adding Bueno into the Bet Builder on this occasion.
