Regular readers will know I like to get a little excited about Spanish card kings Getafe.

Well, they are back on Friday night and I'm salivating abut their clash with Valencia given the history of this fixture.

This has turned into an unlikely, spiky rivalry, one which really sparked into life during a feisty Copa del Rey quarter-final in the 2018/19 season.

Since the start of that campaign some of the stats around this fixture have been astounding. Just take a look...

Booking points tallies (that's 10 for a yellow card and 25 for a red): 70, 120, 110, 130, 95, 160, 105, 50, 70, 160, 80, 75

Fouls tallies: 19, 33, 39, 39, 33, 43, 18. 40, 35, 29, 34, 31

And, in terms of red cards, there has been one in nine of the last 14 meetings, while three of the last six have seen a man from each side dismissed.

In short, there's lots to like here in terms of cards and fouls and my betting approach will take in those markets.

It will be a two-pronged one with two-thirds of the stake going on a fairly 'normal-priced' Bet Builder, with the other third shooting for the stars and the jackpot win.

Bet 1, leg 1: Red card in the match

Let's start with the former and a red card is the first onto the coupon.

The stats above speak for themselves, while this season, Getafe - La Liga' long-term bad boys - lead the way for sendings-off with five. They are top for yellow cards, too.

OK, a couple of their card regulars - Damian Suarez and Omar Alderete - are banned but the nature of the head-to-head keeps me very much involved.

The referee is Guillermo Cuadra Fernandez, a man who showed a league-high 12 reds in 17 games last season, although admittedly he's only produced one so far this term.

Fernandez did, however, show 10 cards the only time he previously took charge of this fixture - another two were brandished to those on the benches - and he looks a good appointment both for cards and fouls.

Bet 1, leg 2: Borja Mayoral 1+ foul

On the latter, he's averaging 27.5 per game, which is just above the league average as a whole.

That brings us onto the next part of our Bet Builder with Getafe's Borja Mayoral chosen for 1+ foul.

He's landed this in 10 of his 14 starts this season and it's hard to see him keeping it clean in a game against such bitter rivals.

Bet 1, leg 3: Pepelu 2+ fouls

Also in the fouls market, I'm going with Valencia midfielder Pepelu for 2+ fouls.

He's delivered on this in nine of his last 11 games and should be at the heart of the battle here.

The three legs combined give us a price around 6/17.00.

Bet 2, leg 1: Red card for both teams

However, I can't resist going for something bigger given the history of this fixture and so here goes with a 77/178.00 shot.

I've already mentioned how each side has had someone sent off in three of the last six meetings and so a price of 18/119.00 about it happening again just looks too good to miss.

Bet 2, leg 2: Borja Mayoral to be shown a card

To make it a mega price, I'm going to add the aforementioned Borja Mayoral to be shown a card to form a double.

The Getafe forward has been up for this battle in the recent past, being booked in all three meetings with Valencia since joining the Madrid-based club.

In total, he has four cards against Valencia - that's more than against any other club.

Mayoral is one of the outsiders in the player-card market at 7/24.50 but in games when you are expecting plenty of cards, there's often value in such prices.

Throw in his track record in the fixture and Mayoral looks worth a bet.

Each team to see red and Mayoral to be carded can be backed at a whopping 77/178.00.
