Aston Villa v Chelsea - Home comforts

The market makes Chelsea the favourites here, I am not sure I agree.

Aston Villa are winless in three and have only won one of their last five games but remain a force to be reckoned with at Villa Park.

In the Premier League this term, only Arsenal, Manchester City and Manchester United have taken more points on home soil than the Villans (29).

In fact, since the beginning of last season, Unai Emery's side have only lost four of 33 league games on home soil (W20 D9).

The absences in midfield is an issue. Boubacar Kamara, John McGinn and Youri Tielemans are all expected to miss this match but I think this can be offset by Chelsea's ill-discipline and their managers lack of big game experience.

Pedro Neto became their seventh player to be sent off at the weekend against Arsenal. The Blues at the time were going toe-to-toe with the Gunners.

All things considered, at 2.8615/8 with the Exchange, Aston Villa to win is the bet.

Brighton v Arsenal - No bet on South Coast

Brighton are a tough team to get a read on.

The Seagulls were sliding towards a relegation fight but two big wins at Brentford then against Nottingham Forest has put daylight between them and the drop for now.

Somewhat similarly, Arsenal were under the cosh after dropping points at Brentford and Wolves saw their lead at the top of the table shrink. Out came the usual suggestions of a potential bottle job but big wins over Tottenham and Chelsea will keep the naysayers at bay for now.

As for the betting, both teams to score might be worth a look at a shade of odds-on but I am leaving this one alone.

Fulham v West Ham - Stay clear of the Cottage

Fulham were excellent for large parts of their win over Tottenham then had a bit of a wobble.

With Marco Silva's contract up in the summer, it feels like the Cottagers are coming to the end of an impressive cycle and it is tricky to get a read on them.

Having lost three on the spin, they've won their last three on the spin and can be backed at 2.111/10 on the Betfair Exchange to win against West Ham.

Three points for the Hammers could see them climb out of the relegation zone with Nottingham Forest playing at the Etihad.

Man City v Nottm Forest - Anderson's shooting on sight

Vitor Pereira has taken charge of four games at Nottingham Forest and they have averaged 16.25 shots (23/18/13/13).

It might be a flash in the span but it is a definite improvement as they were averaging 12 a game in the league before he took charge.

Opponents Manchester City have conceded at least 11 shots in their last seven games and although the visitors shot lines appeal on Wednesday, I rather have a dabble on a specific Forest player.

Elliot Anderson has adopted a shoot on sight approach recently.

Across the league campaign as a whole, he has averaged 1.1 shots a game but he's had 12 shots across his last three appearances (7/4/1) and averged 3.4 shots a game across his last five in all competitions.

Anderson can be backed at 11/43.75 for two shots with the Sportsbook and 9/110.00 for three, both of which are worth a punt this weekend.

Newcastle v Man United - Corner the value

At home, Newcastle have averaged 6.88 corners a game since the turn of the year.

They've had six or more in six of those seven of those and eight plus on three occasions.

What's more, opponents Manchester United are conceding a lot of corner kicks under Michael Carrick.

Some of it is down to game state, some of it isn't but in seven games the Red Devils have had 17 corners to the oppositions 38 and lost the corner count in five fixtures.

Crystal Palace and Tottenham were the two sides who failed to out corner United, both of which had a man sent off.

At 5/61.84 with the Sportsbook, backing Newcastle -1 on the corner handicap appeals.
