Thrown under the bus
Let's make no bones about it, Liverpool are in full crisis mode.
And it's no longer just because of the dreadful run of form that they're in after winning just two of their last 11 games domestically, but it's now more because of Mo Salah's explosive interview that followed Liverpool's dramatic 3-3 draw with Leeds United on Saturday evening.
Salah, who is well known for declining post-match interviews unless he has something to get off his chest, said that he feels like he has been thrown under the bus by the club and that it's clear that someone wants him to get all the blame for Liverpool's poor form.
The 33-year-old was named on the bench for Liverpool's trip to Elland Road for the third consecutive game, only this time he was an un-used substitute despite another below par performance from the reigning champions.
After the game Salah went over to the Liverpool fans and instead of applauding them as would normally be the case, he waved to them. At first, it was deemed a mini goodbye with Salah due to go on international duty with Egypt at the Africa Cup of Nations, but following his staggering post-match interview it now appears he was potentially saying goodbye for good.
"Yesterday I said to them [Salah's children], come to the Brighton game. I don't know if I am going to play or not, but I am going to enjoy it." Salah said in his interview before adding, "I will be in Anfield to say goodbye to the fans and go to Africa Cup of Nations. I don't know what is going to happen when I am there."
Relationship with Slot has broken down
In more revelations Salah said that his relationship with Liverpool manager Arne Slot has now broken down.
"I said many times before that I had a good relationship with the manager and all of a sudden, we don't have any relationship. I don't know why, but it seems to me, how I see it, that someone doesn't want me in the club", he told the interviewer.
Just last week Slot said that Salah had acted like a model professional after being dropped for the first time in Liverpool's 2-0 win over West Ham, but it now appears that being named as a substitute against both Sunderland and Leeds - two games in which the Reds failed to win - has angered the Egyptian.
On the Betfair Sportsbook Salah can be backed at 8/131.61 to join any Saudi Arabian team in next month's January transfer window, while he is 13/102.30 to remain a Liverpool player.
Salah was heavily linked with a move to the Saudi Pro League last season before he eventually signed a two-year contract extension with Liverpool.
Slot under increasing pressure
Following the 3-3 draw at Elland Road Liverpool are eighth in the table, 10 points behind leaders Arsenal, and they're now 33/134.00 to retain their title.
Although individual errors were to blame for Liverpool conceding three goals against Leeds, Slot came in for some criticism during the game for his substitutions which were designed to 'kill the game' despite the Reds appearing to be in full control. Instead they appeared to hand the initiative to Leeds who took full advantage of Liverpool's defensive fragilities.
And following Salah's bombshell interview in which he said his next step is not to speak to Slot as they have already spoken a lot, it could be a situation where one or the other leaves the club first.
Betfair hosted a poll on X asking whether Salah or Slot leaves Anfield first, and it's a tight call with Salah receiving around 48% of the votes and Slot 52%. Click here to cast your vote.
On the Betfair Exchange Slot can be backed at just 2.6413/8 to be the next Premier League manager to leave, while on the sportsbook's Next Permanent Liverpool Manager market, former boss Jurgen Klopp is the 2/13.00 favourite.
