Newcastle v Tottenham
Saturday 13 April, 12:30 kick-off
Live on TNT Sports 1
Tottenham can get an early leg up in their Champions League battle with Aston Villa if they can win at Newcastle - who themselves could jump into sixth with a win as they chase a European place themselves.
This has potential to be one of the games of the weekend considering how both sides have been performing of late, with attacking and scoring goals at the forefront of Ange Postecoglu's thinking.
Eddie Howe is a lot more pragmatic by nature, and their last two games have seen just three goals in total, but against Spurs they'll need to score a few to keep pace.
The Magpies are 7/42.75 to win an 11th home league game of the season, while Spurs are 13/102.30 favourites for an away win with their energy sure to be a problem for a Newcastle side even Howe has admitted is tired.
English Premier League - Overs Unders 2.5
| Team | Games | 2.5 | % |
|---|---|---|---|
| Chelsea | 38 | 25 | 66 |
| Man Utd | 38 | 24 | 63 |
| Man City | 38 | 24 | 63 |
| Newcastle | 38 | 24 | 63 |
| Spurs | 38 | 24 | 63 |
Backed by the Toon Army they've been tough to beat at home despite struggling, coming from behind to remain unbeaten in the last five games despite conceding 10 goals.
And although Spurs have scored 2+ goals in four of their last six away games they've won just one - and both sides are equally as likely to score as to concede.
Newcastle top the over 3.5 goals stats and Spurs the over 2.5 goals standings and are second in both teams to score - so even backing over 3.5 goals and both teams to score works out as just a 9/101.90 double.
Spurs are still Spurs, so it's always a gamble to put your faith in them, but Newcastle look a tired team and if they go behind again like they have been doing at home I'm not sure they'll have the legs to pull off another rescue act.
Back Son & Isak in goals Bet Builder
Newcastle have plenty of injuries but they still have Alexander Isak as a top goal threat with three goals in three since the international break - and five of his last six goals coming at home.
Isak is the 13/102.30 favourite in the anytime goalscorer market and the same price for 2+ shots on target - which he's managed in each of his last three.
For Spurs Son Heung-min is the obvious threat, with a goal or assist in six of his last eight games for club and country, a goal and two assists in the reverse fixture to take his tally to nine overall against Newcastle.
Son is 10/111.91 for a goal or assist at St James' Park, which is the best bet for Spurs in the game - with a double alongside Isak scoring working out around 7/24.50.
Stats add up to 11/1 Bet Builder
As a fan of stats-based Bet Builders there's plenty to go at here and after scouring the markets here's a quick-fire 11/112.00 Bet Builder to take a look at.
Firstly, Brennan Johnson is the pick of the shots market, with a shot on target in five of his last seven games as he's really started to impose himself for Spurs and Wales.
Back him at 4/71.57 for 1+ shot target.
English Premier League - Top 5 Fouls Won
| Player | Team | Apps | Fouls Won | Fouls Won/90* |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Elliot Anderson | Nottm Forest | 38 | 80 | 2.2 |
| Bruno Guimarães | Newcastle | 29 | 75 | 2.7 |
| Crysencio Summerville | West Ham | 31 | 67 | 2.4 |
| Jérémy Doku | Man City | 30 | 61 | 3.1 |
| Alex Scott | Bournemouth | 37 | 60 | 1.9 |
Next, it's on to the fouls - where Bruno Guimaraes stands head and shoulders above the rest having been fouled 88 times in the league this season.
We're taking the 1/12.00 on Guimaraes being fouled 3+ times - which has landed in seven of his last eight home games.
Anthony Gordon isn't too far behind, and we all know how good he is at 'winning' fouls, so add in Gordon to be fouled 3+ times also - with this one landing seven times at St James' Park in the league.
Speaking of winning fouls, James Maddison is an expert after winning multiple fouls in nine of his last 10, so we'll finish off with Maddison to be fouled 2+ times at 4/111.36.
