Premier League Tips: Five FPL stars to score a winning bet this Gameweek 9

Liverpool strike Mo Salah
There's no denying that Mo Salah is in the form of his life, scoring in seven of eight fixtures this season.

Fantasy Premier League expert Holly Shand outlines five standout performers who could reward a transfer into your FPL team and a winning bet in Gameweek 9...

"The most appealing fixture of the weekend is Chelsea facing Norwich City at Stamford Bridge. Both goals and clean sheets could be on the cards: Norwich have scored just two goals this campaign."

The Goalscorer Bet: Mo Salah - Manchester United (A)

There's no denying that Mo Salah is in the form of his life, scoring in seven of eight fixtures this season. He's got 100% record away from home, with four goals and three assists from four games.

While an away trip to Old Trafford might look tough on paper, we must remember that Salah is fixture-proof. He managed a double-digit return against Manchester City, the best defence in the league.

Manchester United are without a clean sheet in their last five league games and have conceded six goals in their last two fixtures in all competitions. Raphael Varane continues to be a big loss for their defence.

Salah is available to back at 4/1 to score two or more goals against United this weekend.

The Assist Pick: Andros Townsend - Watford (H)

Andros Townsend has been one of the surprise packages of this season, registering five attacking returns from three starts. He's delivered in his last two home fixtures.

Despite coming away without a return last time out, he registered five successful crosses, more than any other player. That suggests more assists could be around the corner.

With Dominic Calvert-Lewin still out with injury, Townsend will be on penalties too. Opponents Watford are one of only two sides without a clean sheet in this campaign.

Townsend is available to back at 9/2 to assist against Watford on Saturday.

The Penalty Bet: Ivan Toney - Leicester City (H)

With many managers shopping for a new forward in light of Romelu Lukaku's injury against Malmo, which should mean he's out for a few matches, Ivan Toney will be a popular acquisition this week. Brentford are about to embark on a nice run of fixtures.

Toney has two goals and two assists in this campaign and is always capable of putting on a big performance in front of a home crowd. He's also on penalties for the Bees.

Leicester City have conceded two spot-kicks so far this season, and their defensive issues have continued in recent games. They are conceding two goals per game on average.

You can back VAR and bet on Brentford to score a penalty against Leicester City at odds of 9/2.

The Clean Sheet Bet: Reece James - Norwich (H)

The most appealing fixture of the weekend, for our purposes, is Chelsea facing Norwich City at Stamford Bridge. Both goals and clean sheets could be on the cards: Norwich have scored just two goals this campaign.

Reece James could add an attacking return to a near certain clean sheet. Norwich look most susceptible to conceding down their right side and James has three attacking returns from three starts this season.

Chelsea are on a great run for clean sheets, with five in eight games. Only Manchester City have kept more clean sheets so far this season.

Chelsea are available to back at 8/11 to to win to nil against Norwich this weekend.

The Odds-Against Goalscorer Bet: Michail Antonio - Spurs (H)

It's been a quiet couple of weeks for Michail Antonio, with just one goal from his last three games, but his fortunes could change this weekend with a home game against Spurs.

His underlying statistics remain promising, registering 13 shots and 11 chances created over this period. He's been unlucky not to return in his more recent games.

Spurs have had their own issues defensively, failing to keep a clean sheet since August. They've conceded 12 goals in their last five games, with a worse record on the road of eight goals in three.

Back Michail Antonio to score against Spurs at 7/5 in Gameweek 9.
