Football Bet of the Day: Gruesome Grodig to lose again

We're spending our Wednesday evening in Austria

"Grodig have lost all five of their league games in 2015, and Wolfsberger have already beaten them on their own turf this season."

After picking up a winner in the English Championship, Kevin Hatchard's on the hunt for profits in Austria today.

SV Grodig v Wolfsberger
Wednesday March 18, 17:30

As the old saying goes, nothing is certain but death, taxes and Blackpool being rubbish. The terrible Tangerines continued their losing run in the Championship, as they were beaten 3-0 at home by Charlton. That netted us a nice odds-against winner, and got us into profit for the week.

Having resisted the temptation to stay in Blackpool's arcades and spend our profits on Operation Wolf (or whatever the kids play these days), we're leaving Blighty behind. Pack your ski gear because we're heading to Austria for a Bundesliga clash between SV Grodig and Wolfsberger.

Grodig are just two points above the relegation slot, and have had a nightmarish 2015. Since the winter break, Michael Baur's men have lost all five of their league games. They are defending poorly, having shipped 14 goals in those five games. They are also misfiring at the other end, having scored just three league goals this year.

Despite their poor form, Grodig are trading as 2.6813/8 favourites to win this, and that's a price I can't fathom. Admittedly their opponents Wolfsberger have lost three of their five games in 2015, but they have at least won the other two.

Wolfsberger started the season tremendously well with six straight wins, and although they have faded badly since then, they are still 12 points better off than their rivals. It's also worth noting that in the two league fixtures these teams have already played against each other this term, it was the away side who came out on top.

Given Grodig's dreadful start to the year, I think there is scope for backing the visitors Draw No Bet, especially as they have already won this season at the Untersberg Arena.
