"Servette have won five of their last seven league games, while FC Schaffhausen have picked up just one point from their last three outings."
Another week of global football betting is upon us, and Kevin Hatchard is hoping Servette can provide us with a Swiss banker.
Servette v FC Schaffhausen
Monday November 24, 18:45
Unfortunately the Swiss Super League didn't call the right Thun for our good friend Tobias Gourlay, as a 1-0 defeat to Young Boys stymied the overs bet, but like my hero Alan Partridge he'll bounce back.
We stay in Switzerland, but drop down a level today for a Challenge League clash between Servette and Schaffhausen (wasn't he in 'Allo 'Allo?).
When I was a lad, Servette was an established top-flight club, but financial problems have clipped the Garnets' wings in recent years. In 2005 the club's parent company was declared bankrupt, having run up debts of more than 10 million francs. With no money to pay players, an inevitable exodus followed, and the club's Under-21 side took over the Servette name and started playing in the third division.
Servette fought their way back to the top, and even qualified for the Europa League in 2012. The good times didn't last though, and relegation followed in 2013. This term Servette are third in the Swiss Challenge League, and a win tonight would take them level on points with the leaders Lugano. Intriguingly, Servette are now managed by former Wolves and Cardiff midfielder Kevin Cooper.
Schaffhausen beat Servette home and away last season, but they lost 1-0 at home to them in September, and their general form is poor. FCS (not a sofa company, I assure you), have won just four of their last 12 league outings, and they have collected a solitary point from their last three games. They have the second-worst defence in the division, having leaked an alarming 29 goals in just 15 games.
Servette are on a roll (a Swiss roll, you could say), having won five of their last seven matches, and I think they're overpriced for the home win at 2.3411/8.
Recommended Bet
Back Servette to win at 2.3411/8
