Football Bet of the Day: Portimonense to pounce on Chaves

Nacional had no joy at Moreirense in Portugal last night, but their 2-1 defeat did spark joy for us as it got us over the goals line and off to a winning start for the new week.

Our shift continues in Portugal, where one of tonight's three Primeira Liga games sees bottom-of-the-table Chaves make the trip to Portimonense. We fancy the hosts to send them packing with nothing.

Eighth-placed Portimonense are unbeaten in eight at the Estadio Municipal (W5-D3-L0). Among those eight games, Antonio Folha's men won both of the matches against teams now in the wrong half of the table. Last season, when they finished 10th, they went W5-D2-L1 hosting teams that finished below them.

Since their own promotion in 2016, Chaves have lost well over half their away matches (24/43) - that's despite finishing sixth last season. This term, Tiago Fernandes's men are W1-D1-L7 on their travels and have lost 6/6 on the road at teams now 11th or higher. They've failed to score in 5/6 most recently and we don't think they will stop the rot tonight.
