Football Bet of the Day: Padova to ruffle some feathers

Girona's goalless draw with Real Sociedad gave us half a winner in Spain last night. Nonetheless, apologies to anyone who wrote off their Monday night to actually watch it.

Italy promises a little more entertainment today. In one of tonight's many Serie B matches, top-of-the-table Brescia travel to bottom-of-the-table Padova, where we fancy the strugglers might at least get on the score-sheet.

In their first campaign after promotion, Pierpaolo Bisoli's hosts have won just three of their first 24 matches. They are W2-D6-L3 at their own Stadio Euganeo and, facing teams now in the top six, they have scored in 3/4.

At the other end of the table, Eugenio Corini's Little Swallows are flying high. However, the most exciting trend is for both teams to score in their matches. Brescia themselves have netted in all 24 Serie B games they've played this season, but they've also conceded in 20/24 - a much higher fraction than you'd expect of a league leader. Both teams have scored in a remarkable 11/12 of their away matches this term and, at close to even money, that's our bet for this one.
