Newly promoted Mallorca could learn what Atletico Madrid are all about tonight, says Tobias Gourlay
Mallorca v Atletico Madrid
Wednesday 18:00 (Live on Premier Sports 2)
Falkenbergs failed in Sweden yesterday, but they didn't fail hard enough. A 1-0 defeat at Djurgardens left them - and us - with nothing. We're looking to bounce back in the warmer climes of the Balearics.
Mallorca have returned to Spain's top-flight this season. Since an opening-day win over Eibar, they have picked up just one more point from four further matches. They have failed to score in three of those games and look ripe for the taking by Diego Simeone's Atletico Madrid.
Under Simeone since 2014, Atletico have mastered the Win to Nil. Home and away in La Liga, 76% of their wins have been accompanied by a clean sheet (93/122). On the road, that percentage rises slightly to 78% (39/50). Since early 2017/18, the Mattress Makers have shut out their hosts in 15/17 away wins. With Mallorca failing to score in three of La Liga's last four rounds - and not registering in either of the home matches in that run - we're ready to back Atletico to Win to Nil once more at a plump odds-against price.
