Hosts to extend unbeaten run
HamKam v Sogndal
Tuesday 22 June, 19:00
The Dublin derby was duller than we hoped for last night, as Bohemians edged out Shamrock Rovers 1-0. Bohs keeper James Talbot crossed himself off our Christmas card list with some fantastic early saves.
We head to Norway now to check in with how things are unfolding in the second tier. HamKam are top of the table after an unbeaten start, and I think they can pick up another positive result against Sogndal.
HamKam, or Hamarkameratene if you want the full name, are flying in the second tier, having finished a modest ninth last term. They are unbeaten after the first six matches, they have conceded just three goals, and they have already racked up four clean sheets.
Sogndal finished third last term, but they made an awful start to this campaign. Coached by ex-Leeds and Norway midfielder Eirik Bakke, Sogndal took just a point from their first three games, including a defeat to rock-bottom Stjordals-Blink. Although they have won their last two games, it's been a patchy start to the campaign.
HamKam haven't lost a home game in the league since October, and since then they have won six and drawn three. That sequence includes a 2-1 comeback win against tonight's opponents.
Sogndal are a good side, so while I'm keen to back HamKam, I'll do so with a bit of caution. We can use the Draw No Bet market to back them at 1.865/6, which means if the game is drawn, our stake is returned.
