A mystery Betfair punter made possibly the greatest cash out of all time on Boxing Day, earning a staggering £223k from just a £1 stake.

The festive accumulator was made up of 21 legs, all football matches, and included Plymouth to beat Wycombe in a game that ended 3-3 with a 90th minute equaliser from Wanderers' Myles Weston.

But our customer had taken his £223,000 offer just four minutes before Weston's net-buster, an effort which would have left him with nothing.

The bet was made up of the following teams: Arsenal, Manchester United, Burnley, West Ham, Aston Villa, Chelsea, Reading, Millwall, Rochdale, Everton, Sheffield United, Bolton, Rotherham, Blackpool, Portsmouth, Grimsby, Wolves and Bristol Rovers.
