Weekend Multiple: Back Black Cats to earn a draw

"After defeats to Leicester and Norwich, the Black Cats looked more solid in defence against Swansea last time..."

Andrew Hughes thinks Sunderland are good value to bag a point at Villa Park in another weekend multiple.

Bet 1: Back Aston Villa to draw with Sunderland at 3.55/2

As Mike Norman suggests in his Saturday Premier League Tipsheet, both these teams face a season-long struggle. Sunderland in particular, made an awful start to their Premier League campaign but there have been positive signs in their last couple of games and I think they can hold the home side to a draw in Birmingham on Saturday.

Villa have a good record in this fixture, having not lost to Sunderland at Villa Park since 2011, but they haven't looked that convincing so far, particularly up front, where they've scored just twice in three Premier League outings.

After defeats to Leicester and Norwich, the Black Cats looked more solid in defence against Swansea last time and with Jermain Defoe in goalscoring form, they are more than capable of grabbing a goal or two on the break.

Bet 2: Back Ireland to beat Wales at 1.434/9

Three weeks ago, Ireland comfortably beat an experimental Welsh line-up in Cardiff and I expect Joe Schmidt's side to prevail again on Saturday.

Warren Gatland has named a strong team for Wales' first serious World Cup warm-up game, but Ireland will also be stronger this time, as a number of first team regulars including Jonny Sexton return to action.

The Six Nations champions haven't lost at home since November 2013, a run of nine consecutive victories and they will be determined to extend that sequence as they build towards their World Cup campaign.

Bet 3: Back Lancashire to beat Hampshire at 1.9520/21

Lancashire are yet to win the domestic Twenty20 competition but the two-times runners-up can earn another crack at the title by beating Hampshire in Saturday's second semi-final at Edgbaston.

Hampshire reached Finals Day thanks to a controversial quarter-final at Worcester and although they have plenty of experience of the big occasion, having won this cup twice, I feel the momentum is with Lancashire. The return of Jos Buttler helped them overcome a strong Kent side in the last eight and he can give the Lightning the edge.
