Jordan caught the eye in the group stage, first thrashing Malaysia 4-0 but, more importantly, drawing 2-2 with South Korea, who are among the title favourites.
The Koreans needed an injury-time goal to escape defeat in that one as they were rattled by a side ready to get stuck in and give them little time on the ball; only Lebanon won more tackles in the group stage.
Jordan opted to rest players for their final group game. That backfired as they lost 1-0 to Bahrain to finish third in their pool. Still, they were the best of the third-placed finishers, scoring six and conceding only three.
That blip has left them facing one of the group winners in the last 16 though, Iraq having won three out of three, including a victory over ante-post favourites Japan.
No-one scored more goals in the group stage and coach Jesus Casas has vowed to continue to attack in the knockout stage.
He said: "Our style is very clear - we aim to be offensive, maintain control of possession, and create numerous chances. We won't change our style."
Still, they conceded in every group game, meaning they've now kept just two clean sheets in their last 14 games and Jordan's more pragmatic approach may pay dividends here.
With Iraq odds-on, the underdogs look worth backing here, with one particular player also worth siding with.
Mousa Tamari scored twice against Malaysia, including a first-half penalty. He's had five shots across his two games at the tournament, three of which have been on target.
The Montpellier winger has now bagged seven goals in his last 17 internationals and looks a player who will be able to trouble that Iraq defence which still has question marks hanging over it.
If Jordan are to win this, Tamari is likely to be involved so, while it is a long shot, the 17/29.50 double looks worth a try.
