Entertainers to put on a show
Atlante v Alebrijes de Oaxaca
Thursday 18 March, 18:00
They left it late, but Sevilla got the job done for us last night, as Franco Vazquez struck in the 89th minute to seal a 2-0 win over Elche and cover the Asian Handicap. We'll grab a bag of 007 crisps to celebrate, and move on.
We'll keep our Spanish phrasebook, because we're heading to Mexico this evening. Atlante are up against Alebrijes de Oaxaca in the Liga de Expansion MX, and I think there are goals on the menu.
Mexico City-based Atlante have made a solid if unspectacular start to the season, winning four of their first nine games, losing three and conceding just six goals. They are four points off top spot. So far, so dull.
Alebrijes de Oaxaca are four points worse off, but a lot more entertaining. Their nine games have featured a total of 37 goals so far (more than four per match), and they have the best attack and worst defence in the division. Incidentally, the word Alebrijes refers to brightly coloured Mexican folk art sculptures of mythical creatures, such as a donkey with butterfly wings or a rooster with bull horns. Don't say I never teach you anything.
If you look at Alebrijes' last nine games, seven of them have featured at least three goals. When they last played Atlante in November, they lost 2-1. Four of Atlante's last seven games have seen an Over 2.5 Goals bet land, and in two of their last three outings, they have won 3-0 and 5-0.
I'll happily back Over 2.5 Goals here at 2.0421/20.
