League One Tips: Imps look outstanding value to pick up the points at Blackpool

Back Lincoln to beat Blackpool @ 3.8514/5

Alan hit two out of four with his bets last week, and he is hoping to chisel out a bit more profit this weekend in League One by backing Lincoln on the road...

Tigers should make it four on the spin

Hull City v Plymouth Argyle

Hull are looking to complete the "newly promoted trifecta" this weekend with the visit of Plymouth Argyle to the KCOM. And whilst I don't often put up odds-on shots in the Match Odds, backing the hosts here should be fairly straightforward at 1.855/6.

The Tigers have already taken care of Northampton (0-2) and Crewe (1-0) this season, although the Alex and their on-the-floor football caused Hull a couple of problems, and I get the feeling there is still a bit more to come from Grant McCann's side.

Indeed, the strength of the squad alone should frighten Plymouth backers a bit, and the Greens cannot afford to make the costly mistakes as they did away at AFC Wimbledon in a crazy 4-4 fixture. If they defend that poorly again, the likes of Josh Magennis and Mallik Wilks should create and score. Wilks alongside captain Richie Smallwood are both pushing for returns this weekend.

The Hull To Win To Nil 'Yes' is probably a bet worth considering for this as the hosts have yet to concede a goal in League One football so far in three games, and I quite like the idea of the Correct Score 2-0 option at around 10.09/1.

KEY OPTA STAT: Hull are looking to win their opening four Football League matches in a season for only the second time in their history.

Imps look an excellent price to land another victory

Blackpool v Lincoln City

I couldn't quite believe the prices for this game when scanning the markets on Thursday. I don't make Blackpool a 2.186/5 shot here at all, and Lincoln look an excellent bet at 3.8514/5 in a game that could really suit them.

That figure could well shorten up in the build-up to the weekend.

Firstly, Lincoln are the form team at the moment under Michael Appleton, and their excellent organisation and style to hit teams on the break has worked superbly. Appleton made plenty of new signings in the summer at Sincil Bank, but each seems to know their roles in this team, and they are looking super-efficient with their counter-attack.

Blackpool look the sort of side that have a bit of possession with no real cutting edge - which is not a good combination in this league. Neil Critchley wants his team to enjoy a bit of the ball, but Lincoln are well up to coping with the Tangerines, who look pretty impotent up front as they have only scored in one of their matches so far.

We opposed the Seasiders last week and Gillingham won comfortably 0-2 with their direct style, and the hosts look the worst value price of the whole weekend.

KEY OPTA STAT: Blackpool have lost three of their last seven league games against Lincoln.

Exciting attacking talent points towards goals

Wigan Athletic v Doncaster Rovers

For all of Wigan's problems off the pitch, they've not played too badly in adapting to life in League One - minus most of their players from the Championship last term.

Portsmouth's misery continued on the south coast as Wigan surprisingly beat them 1-2 at Fratton Park - a result that has made a bit of an impact on the prices here, with the hosts at a 2.982/1. And that would have been unthinkable before a ball had been kicked.

Doncaster were one of my teams to back for promotion in my ante-post preview, and they have picked up seven points from an available nine so far, a tally that included last week's 4-1 home win against Bristol Rovers.

Donny still can improve, but I like the young loan players Darren Moore has at the club, and two of them played well last week with Taylor Richards (Brighton) in the hole as a No10, and Tyreece John-Jules (Arsenal) impressing again with a goal to cap a fine solo performance.

Add to that the goals from Madger Gomes in midfield (four), which would normally make for a bet on BTTS, but that is quite short at 1.584/7. Instead the Over 2.5 Goals is the call at slightly larger odds, as Wigan certainly have a goal in them.

KEY OPTA STAT: Wigan are looking to avoid losing their opening two home league matches of the season for the first time since 2010-11.
