  • Two -2 bets appeal both at 3/14.00 this Saturday

League One

Leg 1: Portsmouth v Fleetwood Town, Saturday 15:00: Back Portsmouth -2

Portsmouth are unbeaten in their last seven league matches against Fleetwood Town (W3 D4), keeping a clean sheet in four of their last six, and with the table-toppers looking good, the 3/14.00 appeals for them to cover the -2 handicap this weekend.

John Mousinho's side have won four on the spin at 2-0, 2-0, 3-0 and 3-0 and completely dominated the game in terms of possession and shots on the road recently at Shrewsbury.

Kusini Yengi scored in the recent 2-0 home win v Bolton on Sky and he produced a man-of-the-match display in that game up against one of the best defender in the league in Ricardo Santos. The 24-year-old Aussie striker has been a real find this term.

Considering Pompey have covered the -2 twice in their last four and have such a good record at Fratton, they are impossible to oppose.

KEY OPTA STAT: Since Lee Johnson's first league game in charge of Fleetwood, only Reading (30) and Exeter (27) have conceded more League One goals than the Cod Army (25), who have lost their last four games without scoring a goal.

Leg 2: Shrewsbury Town v Peterborough United, Saturday 15:00: Back Peterborough

Backing Posh in the column of late has been a productive exercise and they delivered again for us last weekend with a hard fought win at Fleetwood.

Darren Ferguson's side is very much settled and he named an unchanged 11 again last weekend to record a 0-1 win, a success that took them to second in the table seven behind Portsmouth.

Peterborough United have won 25 league games during 2023 - they last won more matches in a calendar year in 2008 (28 wins) and fully deserve their tags as 8/151.53 favourites here, and Shrewsbury have lost three of their last four league matches against Peterborough, conceding 10 goals across those three defeats.

KEY OPTA STAT: Only Cheltenham Town (12) have scored fewer League One goals than Shrewsbury Town this season (13) - the Shrews have, however, won eight of the nine games in which they have found the net (D1).

Leg 3: Blackpool v Bristol Rovers, Saturday 15:00: Back Blackpool

Blackpool's Jordan Rhodes has been involved in more League One goals than any other player this season (14 goals, 3 assists). It's his most league goals in a season since 2015-16 (16 - 10 for Blackburn, 6 for Middlesbrough), and the wily old goal-sniffer could be a potential play in the Anytime Goalscorer bets for this weekend.

But the Tangerines have been entertaining at Bloomfield Road this term and certainly are scoring with recent 3-0 and 4-0 wins against Carlisle and Shrewsbury.

Bristol Rovers have won four of their last six league games against Blackpool (L2), scoring 2+ goals in all four of those victories and secured a shock 1-2 win at Bolton last Saturday, but Bolton played the majority of the game with 10 men after an early red.

Blackpool have won seven at home and scored 25 this season and have some good xG numbers on the metric with 1.53 xG for and just 1.04 xG against.

KEY OPTA STAT: Bristol Rovers have won two of their last three away league games (L1), as many as in their previous 12 combined on the road (W2 D3 L7).

League Two

Leg 1: Accrington Stanley v Walsall, Saturday 15:00: Back Accrington

Accrington were the coupon spoilers last weekend with an amazing 3-3 at Crewe. They scored late goals in 87 and 90 minutes and were all set for the win, but the Alex, so often goalscorers for fun themselves, scored on 97 minutes.

With late goals in mind, Accrington are 6/5 on the 90 minute payout bet.

Walsall have won their last two league games and Mat Sadler's Saddlers are looking to win three consecutive games for the first time since December 2022, when Michael Flynn was manager.

They stunned everyone when beating Notts County 1-2 recently thanks to Oisin McEntee's double - but they've conceded a lot of goals on the road this season and Accrington have won six (lost four at home).

Both of Walsall's two previous league visits to Accrington Stanley have ended in a 2-1 scoreline, with both sides winning one each, so the BTTS is an option, but Accrington look a better bet as I don't quite trust that Walsall away win at the Magpies.

KEY OPTA STAT: After losing their first two matches against Walsall in the top four tiers of English football, Accrington Stanley have won each of their last two - with the most recent a 2-1 win in April 2019 in League One.

Back Accrington @ 13/102.30

Leg 2: Sutton United v Mansfield Town, Saturday 15:00: Back Mansfield

Sutton received the shellackings of all shellackings last weekend when losing 8-0 at Stockport - and in the process landed us a nice 11/43.75 winning single on the -2. If ever there was an easier -2 bet from the top against the bottom I am yet to find it.

Stockport scored the eight from their 11 shots on target with Sutton registering just one attempt. That result and performance cost Matt Gray his job and was sacked soon after, so his assistant Jason Goodliffe will be in charge this weekend.

Mansfield Town have had the most shots in League Two this season (371), while they have the second-highest xG figure (37) with only Stockport County accumulating more (40). Opponents Sutton, meanwhile, have had the third-fewest shots (234) and have the lowest xG in the league (21.2).

Nigel Clough's team are just a point behind Barrow and Wrexham in fourth and have lost just once on the road all season. Away win please.

KEY OPTA STAT: Since enjoying a nine-game unbeaten league run between January and March this year, Sutton United have lost 20 out of 31 League Two matches (W3 D8), averaging a mere 0.55 points per game in this period.

Back Mansfield @ 4/61.67

Leg 3: Wrexham v Newport County, Saturday 15:00: Back Wrexham -2

The fixture list has been kind to Phil Parkinson with a second successive home game this weekend against Newport, and save for a struggling 2-1 last week against Colchester at the Racecourse, they have been breezing teams of late.

Paul Mullin scored a hat-trick in the recent 6-0 thumping of Morecambe, and Wrexham have scored at least two goals in all 11 home league games this season, netting 35 goals - the most of any League Two side at home this season - and winning their last five games. The Dragons haven't won six in a row at home in the Football League since December 1995 under Brian Flynn.

Newport County have forced 226 high turnovers in League Two this season, 42 more than any other side. Despite this, they are one of four sides yet to score following a high turnover in the division and they have conceded 23 goals on the road with eight defeats.

Wrexham's xG of 2.07 at home is one of the best of league and hopefully we can hit another -2 bet.

KEY OPTA STAT: This will be the first meeting between Wrexham and Newport County in the top four tiers of English football since March 1988, a 4-1 win to Wrexham at the Racecourse with Ollie Kearns scoring a hat-trick.

Back Wrexham -2 @ 3/14.00
