Who will be the next England Manager after Tuchel? Howe favourite but Pep is the bet

Pep Guardiola is proving to be very popular in the next England Manager market

Following England's heartbreaking World Cup semi-final defeat to Argentina on Wednesday night, the Betfair Sportsbook have markets on Thomas Tuchel to remain Three Lions boss, and who will replace him should he leave...

Tuchel 1/51.20 to remain Three Lions boss

Before we talk about the main contenders to become the next permanent England manager it's worth pointing out that Thomas Tuchel is just 1/51.20 on the Betfair Sportsbook to remain the Three Lions boss for their next competitive game, the Nations League encounter with Spain on 26 September.

Those odds may come as a surprise to many after Tuchel received widespread criticism for his in-game tactics during Wednesday night's defeat to Argentina.

England looked in relative control when going 1-0 up in their huge World Cup semi-final, but that was as good as it got as the Three Lions sat deep, Tuchel made defensive substitutions, and Argentina powered to what seemed like an inevitable victory after the hydration break.

Tuchel's tactics were heavily criticised on Social Media and by some parts of the MSM, but given that his contract with the FA runs through to Euro 2028 he can be backed at 3/14.00 not to be in charge for September's game against Spain.

Howe favourite but punters only want Guardiola

Should Tuchel leave his England role, or indeed whenever the position becomes vacant, then Eddie Howe has been installed as the 5/23.50 favourite to become the Next Permanent England Manager.

The Newcastle boss has regularly been a candidate to become his national team's manager but in the past has quickly ruled himself out of contention. But on the back of a disappointing season with Newcastle, surely Howe would jump at the chance to become England boss should the opportunity arise.

Second favourite in the market at 10/34.33 is former Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola, and he appears to be the only person bettors are interested in backing on the Betfair Sportsbook.

As of 9:45am, 18 of the last 20 bets placed in the market were on the the 55-year-old who remains a very popular figure among English football fans, and who recently called Manchester his home in his video announcing his departure from City.

Behind Howe and Guardiola you can back USA manager Mauricio Pochettino at 7/18.00, former England caretaker manager Lee Carsley at [15/2], and Gareth Southgate to make a sensational return as Three Lions boss at 10/111.00.

But for now, it's Guardiola that the punters only seem interested in.
