The Saturday following the international break is always one to look forward to, and Paul Robinson has put together a Daily Acca that is a whopping 34/135.00.
-
Injuries to get the better of Newcastle
-
Saints to record another win
-
Rooney to finally get off the mark
Chelsea travel to St James' Park in what is usually an extremely tricky fixture against Newcastle, but with the Magpies' injury list mounting up, I make the Blues a bit of value.
Mauricio Pochettino's side are beginning to find their form, and they were excellent in their 4-4 draw with Man City prior to the international break.
Dortmund and Liverpool have already won on this ground this season, and Eddie Howe is practically without a first choice XI.
The Saints are up to fourth place in the Championship thanks to a run of eight unbeaten matches - six of which were victories.
Darren Moore's Huddersfield have gone four without a win, and three of them ended in defeat. They have home advantage this afternoon, but Leicester, Cardiff and Norwich have all won here this term, and they failed to even score on their two latest outings in front of their own fans.
Birmingham are yet to win under Wayne Rooney, with his record currently standing at played five, drawn one and lost four. They should have beaten Ipswich in their last home game, but they blew a 2-0 lead.
Thankfully for Rooney, the Owls are the visitors to St Andrew's, and even since they changed their manager, they haven't really improved.
It's just one win in 16 since their promotion from League One - losing on 12 occasions.
Preston made it back to back victories with a 1-2 win at Blackburn prior to the international break, and they can make it a hat-trick at home to Cardiff on Saturday.
Ryan Lowe's hosts have lost just one of eight at Deepdale this season, while the Bluebirds have been beaten in four of their eight on the road. They failed to score in three of their last four away games, and Preston have netted five across their last two here.
League One leaders, Portsmouth are unbeaten this season, and they have won six of their nine at Fratton Park. Given that, I have to make them a bet at just shy of even money.
Opponents, Blackpool, are in eighth, and they beat Shrewsbury 4-0 last weekend. That was at Bloomfield Road though, and they haven't won on their travels since September.
Acca Wreckers
So far this season I have put up 26 teams to avoid - all at odds-on - and 12 of them have failed to win. That is a profitable record, and I have two more selections this weekend.
The first are Stoke at 1/12.00 at home to Blackburn. Rovers are two places and one better off than them in the table, and they have not only gone undefeated in three away from home - they have won all three of them.
The Potters are unbeaten in five, but their last two were 0-0 draws - including one on this ground.
In the Saturday tea-time kick-off, Brentford host Arsenal, and as the Bees don't lose many at home, I have to oppose the Gunners at 4/61.67.
Since the start of last season, Thomas Frank's team have lost just three Premier League fixtures here, and Mikel Arteta's men have failed to win in each of their last two away from the Emirates.
