Vincent Kompany faces a tough task if he is to get Burnley promoted from the Championship at the first time of asking, according to the latest betting odds.
On the day English Football League fixtures for the 2022/23 season were released, Norwich 7/4 and Watford 15/8 are the favourites to win promotion to the top flight.
The Canaries will begin their campaign at Cardiff City on 30 July while the Hornets will host Sheffield United the following day.
If that sounds soon it's because the season is getting underway earlier to accomodate the winter World Cup in Qatar.
In the Championship title betting it's Norwich who have the edge as 6/1 favourites.
Watford and Norwich were both relegated from the Premier League last season but the odds indicate they have a much better chance than Kompany's Burnley of going straight back up.
The Clarets are 7/2 with Sheffield Utd, Middlesbrough and West Brom all above them in the market at 11/4. Sunderland, who were promoted from League 1, are 7/1 to end their five-year top-flight exile and last season's play-off finalists Huddersfield are 11/2.
At the other end of the Championship table, Rotherham are 5/4 to go straight back down, with Birmingham, Reading, Bristol City all 11/4 for the drop.
Remember though that the Championship throws up plenty of surprise packages in the promotion race, as this season's Premier League new boys Nottingham Forest will tell you.
Rooney's Rams among League 1 contenders
In League One, Ipswich are the 7/4 favourites for promotion. They are followed by Sheffield Wednesday 9/4 and Wayne Rooney's Derby 11/4.
Derby were relegated from the Championship last season following a 21-point deduction and uncertainty still surrounds the future of the club. But the market points to a strong campaign from Rooney's men who start at home to Oxford on 30 July.

In League Two, Salford are the 6/4 frontrunners in the promotion betting.
North west rivals Stockport are second-favourites at 7/4 while Mark Hughes' Bradford are 2/1.
