Kipre late show saves Cardiff

Cardiff City fans woke up on Friday feeling that justice had been served after a very late Cedric Kipre strike meant they beat Rotherham 2-1 on Thursday night, in a game that had controversially been rearranged with the Welsh outfit ahead due to a waterlogged pitch.

This importance of this Sunday kick-off to the home side is now questionable as, even though they aren't mathematically safe, they could well be by the time this kicks off if Reading fail to beat Wigan.

Even if that doesn't materialise the variation of results that would see them relegated is very unlikely, and we could see a Cardiff side sporting sunglasses and bermuda shorts with their Championship status secured for another season.

Warnock the wizard needs one last trick

After three straight wins and then 2-0 up against Blackburn it looked like Neil Warnock was going to lead Huddersfield from the bottom of the Championship to safety with relative ease, but Rovers' comeback in that game seems to have halted momentum and The Terriers are now in desperate need of three points to prevent a slip back into the drop zone.

Warnock will be hoping for a favour from his former club Cardiff, who he took to the Premier League in the 2017/18 season.

The veteran manager is a hero in the Welsh capital, and if the hosts are safe by Sunday afternoon there may well be some home fans in the ground who wouldn't begrudge him the valuable three points.

History favours the hosts

Cardiff City have won eight of their last nine home league games against Huddersfield Town (D1) since losing 2-1 in September 2001, while Warnock has only won two of his last 15 league meetings with the Welsh outfit.

The visitors are looking to complete a league double over Cardiff for the first time since the 1969-70 campaign, and will be buoyed by the fact that the Bluebirds have won just two of their last 14 home league games (D5 L7), and are winless in four at the Cardiff City Stadium (D2 L2).

Chance the dead rubber and back Town

At this time of the season we see huge price disparities between sides with something to play for and those without. Play-off chasing Sunderland, for example, are 3/4 against Watford, while in League One title challengers Ipswich are a whopping 2/13 against the beached Exeter.

There is every chance that this could be a dead rubber come Sunday, as mentioned above, but even if Cardiff aren't mathematically safe by kick-off the players and fans will know that it's all but done.

That is in stark contrast to their opposition, for whom this is the biggest game of the season regardless of Saturday's events. It's not often you get the team with something to play for as the outsider, so we need to capitalise on that and back Huddersfield at the 21/10 on offer.
