Red Bull flying in Group G
The Group G leaders Red Bull Salzburg will be looking to tighten their grip on that spot, when they host Wolfsburg on Wednesday evening.
Salzburg got off to a good start with an away 1-1 draw at Sevilla, in a game that they should have won. They then enjoyed a 2-1 home win against Lille, in which Karim-David Adeyemi scored both goals.
The 19-year old is the latest fine young talent to come off the Red Bull conveyer belt. He's scored eleven goals in 15 games, contributing to an unbeaten start in the Austrian Bundesliga (P11 W10 D1). Their first draw of the season came on Saturday, with Rheindorf Altach holding them to a 1-1 stalemate.
Wolfsburg are third in the group, with the same points as second placed Sevilla. They've drawn their games away at Lille and then at home against Sevilla. In the Bundesliga they are sixth, but in poor form. Without a win in four matches (D1 L3), they were beaten 2-0 away at Union Berlin over the weekend.
Another win for Salzburg
Red Bull Salzburg are the favourites at 2.111/10, with Wolfsburg at 3.711/4 and the draw at 3.814/5.
There can't have been many occasions over the years, when an Austrian Bundesliga side were expected to beat a team from the German Bundesliga. Based on form, you have to say that the pricing looks justified, yet with Wolfsburg having claimed two draws, perhaps we need to go searching for a little more value.
Both teams to score has landed in each of the last three of Salzburg's games and in four of Wolfsburg's last five. It's 1.768/11 as a standalone bet, while a home win and both teams to score is 4.03/1.
