There'll be beers tonight in the north east after wins for all three Premier League teams

It was a great Saturday for north east teams in the Premier League's relegation battle with wins for Sunderland, Newcastle and Middlesbrough.

Sunderland are now the fifth favourites to exit the league on Betfair's relegation market at [6.2] having been backed at a low of [2.56] following a shock 1-0 win at Aston Villa. Roy Keane's men were backed at an in-running high of [15.0] while the correct score hit a high of [23.0]

Newcastle now stand at [13.5] following a 2-0 win over Fulham. Boro are seemingly out of the action at [20.0] after they defeated Derby - who are unbackable in the market - 1-0.

In other 3pm kick-offs, Blackburn were matched at [4.5] after conceding a penalty and having Christopher Samba sent off at home to Wigan. But Rovers went on score twice without reply. The correct score of 3-1 was backed at [25.0].

One goal or more was backed at [1.11] for £4,009 as Bolton and Manchester City played out a 0-0 draw.

Reading were backed at a high of 4.5 before breaking a 1-1 deadlock in the second half of their home fixture with Birmingham.

Goals were expected at White Hart Lane in today's early Premier League kick-off but it looked as if they would not be forthcoming with the match locked at 0-0 going into the 80th minute.

But Darren Bent popped up with a rare goal for Spurs and his effort was quickly followed by one for Jamie O'Hara to make it 2-0 against Portsmouth.

Tottenham hit a high of [3.7] to win while the draw was backed at [1.61].

The scoring burst denied those backing of less than one-and-a-half goals at [1.09] while it will have delighted the correct score backers who took [24.0] on 2-0.

In the League's evening kick-off, Everton were backed in to a low of [1.24] on Betfair when 1-0 up against West Ham midway through the second half of their clash.

But Dean Ashton levelled the scores to delight backers of the draw at a high of [6.8]. The correct score of 1-1 was matched at a high of [24.0].
