It's a tale of two Smiths with Maisie backed to win and Jacqui favourite for elimination ahead of week one in Strictly Come Dancing 2020 reports Max Liu...
"Bettors still back actor Maisie Smith 2.466/4, who attracted plenty of support when this year's contestants were announced, to win the Glitterball in 2020."
Former-politician Jacqui Smith is the favourite to be voted off in the first round of eliminations on Strictly Come Dancing.
So far there's scant liquidity in the elimination market but the consensus, based on a glimpse of the contestant's in last weekend's launch show, is that Smith is a good bet to be out early.
There are no eliminations in week one - as usual, we have to wait for week two before we can vote somebody off - but there's still plenty to play for as the contestants make their first impressions on the dancefloor.
Maisie still favourite to win
Bettors still back actor Maisie Smith 2.466/4, who attracted plenty of support when this year's contestants were announced, to win the Glitterball in 2020.
On Saturday Smith will dance a samba with partner Gorka Marquez. Last year, Kelvin Fletcher assumed favouritism after the first round and stayed at the top of market all the way to winning the final.
Fletcher's former-dance partner Oti Mabuse has been paired with Bill Bailey this time 19.018/1 this time. L
The comedian was considered a big outsider, and may have been fancied for an early exit, but he has shortened from 50.049/1 after he teamed up with Oti. Look out for their cha-cha this weekend.
HRVY 6.411/2, Max George 8.615/2, Clara Amfo 10.519/2 and Jason Bell 13.012/1 are fairly popular in the betting and will all want to make a confident start in week one.
But you never know - maybe the bettors are wildly underestimating Caroline Quentin 18.017/1, Jamie Laing 19.018/1, JJ Chalmers 50.049/1 or Ranvir Singh 55.054/1.
The story of the round could be Olympic gold medallist boxer Nicola Adams 16.015/1 (pictured above) who, with Katya Jones, will become the show's first all-female couple. They'll perform a quickstep to Get Happy by Ella Fitzgerald.
