We are well and truly rocking and rolling at Royal Ascot now and the action will come thick and fast on Friday.
Once again, I have a pair of horses to back on what is another high-quaity card.
Jet has fly past the field
The Commonwealth Cup (15:05) has been a fine addition to the Royal Ascot programme and it has again attracted a strong and intriguing field.
There are quite a few horses that I have a liking for in this field, but the selection is the Michael O'Callaghan-trained Twilight Jet.
The son of Twilight Son was a teak-tough performer as a two-year-old, running 11 times over a variety of trips and progressing throughout the season. His biggest win came in the Cornwallis Stakes at Newmarket, but he also finished a close fifth in the Middle Park Stakes.
His return to action was delayed this season due to a minor hold-up and he was thought to be in need of the run when eventually reappearing in the Lacken Stakes at Naas.
However, one wouldn't have known it, as he blitzed a field of race-fit rivals to run out the impressive victor by three lengths.
That represented a career-best performance and if he can improve from it as hoped, he is going to be a very serious player.
Discoveries can bounce back
The Coronation Stakes (16:20) will see the much-anticipated return of Inspiral to the track, but she clearly hasn't been straightforward to train this season, so her short price is unappetising for all that she looked a top-class filly last season.
I want to give another chance to the Jessica Harrington-trained Discoveries.
She progressed really well last season, winning the Moyglare Stud Stakes despite still looking green. Her full-sister Alpha Centauri and indeed all of her siblings improved notably from two to three and on that basis, I thought she would run a big race in the 1000 Guineas at Newmarket.
However, the vibes surrounding her going into that race were not good and she ran below expectations.
The Harrington camp are reportedly much happier with her in recent weeks and it wouldn't surprise to see her show much improved form here and run a big race.
