Another four Extra Place Special races today on the Sportsbook beginning with the opening 14:30 Albany Stakes 6f and Andrew Balding won the race in 2021 with Sandrine, and his Gushing Gold was cut this morning from 20/121.00 into 12/113.00.

The Amo racing colours are well represented here with four contenders. Flaccianello the shortest of the quartet is trained by Richard Fahey, and has been a 28/129.00 into 16/117.00 market mover.

Persian Dreamer 25/126.00, Komat 40/141.00, and Mapmaker complete the Amo set, and Kia Joorabchian as an owner fired in the winner of the first race in the Norfolk yesterday at a whopping 488.00 BSP.

Three single-figure draws are the top three in the market with Navassa Island very strong in the betting from 13/27.50 into 4/15.00 and Ryan Moore will be looking to give trainer Joseph O'Brien his first Royal winner of the meeting.

Donnacha has booked Frankie Dettori for the unbeaten Porta Fortuna, who is 2-2.

Jabaara was not positive from 6/17.00 out to 13/27.50.

The Sportsbook OddsBoost is Navassa Island, Carlas Way & Porta Fortuna All To Finish In The Top 6 In The 14:30 Royal Ascot - out to 11/43.75.

The 15:40 Royal Ascot Duke Of Edinburgh Stakes (Handicap) 1m4f is another Extra Place Special on the Sportsbook and each-way players have 19 runners to try and sort out.

Okita Soushi was backed from 7/18.00 into 9/25.50 on the Sportsbook, and another Joseph O'Brien market leader as a positive.

Ryan Moore has been the man for this race winning three times in the last 10 seasons, and Moore is teaming up again with Joseph with Okita Soushi.

Teumessias Fox, Okita Soushi & Al Nafir All To Finish In The Top 6 In The 15:40 Royal Ascot is the OddsBoost on the Sportsbook and has been boosted from 7/24.50 out to 9/25.50.

The third Extra Place Special is the 17:00 Royal Ascot Sandringham Stakes (Handicap) (Fillies) 1m and Coppice will be looking to add to the Gosden/Dettori tally this week as the 9/25.50 favourite.

Chelsea Green 10/111.00 for the Chelsea Thoroughbred owners had the 1-2 in the Hunt Cup and have a live contender for another handicap.

The 18:10 Royal Ascot Palace of Holyroodhouse Stakes (Handicap) over 5f is the final Extra Place Special of the day with a field of 28 runners.

Thunder Moor for George Boughey was the big positive this morning from 28/129.00 into 12/113.00.

Conquistador & Clearpoint Both To Finish In The Top 6 In The 18:10 Royal Ascot is the OddsBoost on the Sportsbook from 7/24.50 to 9/25.50.

Trainer Roger Varian has had two big prices place this week with Exoplanet (BSP 17.52) and New Endeavour (BSP 34.0). He also had a winner on the first day with Royal Champion at a big price 20.09 BSP.

Varian has some good chances today with:

14:30 Royal Ascot: Jabaara 13/27.50.
15:05 Royal Ascot: Sakheer 9/25.50.
15:40 Royal Ascot: Aimeric 10/111.00, and Nagano 10/111.00.

Charlie Appleby is still chasing that elusive first Royal Ascot winner of 2023, and out of six of his horses yesterday, five were unplaced although Bold Act finished third.

He's now 0-11 at the meeting and his chances today are with:

15:05 Royal Ascot: Noble Style 14/115.00, Mischief Magic 30/131.00.
15:40 Royal Ascot: Al Nafir 11/26.50.
17:00 Royal Ascot: Dream Of Love 16/117.00.

Oisin Murphy is on the cold list and is without a winner from his last 24 rides. Teumessias Fox 9/25.50 looks one of his better chances today.

Race of the day

Ascot Royal field head on 1280.jpg

The headline race today has to be the Group 1 Commonwealth Cup with 13 in the field, and while the Coronation is classy, the small field negates any sort of each-way bet there with Tahiyra as the 4/61.67 favourite.

Little Big Bear heads the Commonwealth field at 10/111.91 and Aidan O'Brien last won this race with Caravaggio in 2017.

Little Big Bear was the champion 2yo in Europe last season and a campaign which culminated with his 7L Phoenix win in Group 1 company.

His flop in the 2,000 Guineas was righted with success at Haydock last time in the Sandy Lane, and he has a huge 124 rating.

At his such a short price, he will be the banker for many this afternoon and there's also a Sportsbook Oddsboost on the race with Little Big Bear & Sakheer To Finish 1-2 In Any Order In The 15:05 Royal Ascot at 10/34.33.

There is also the huge Betfair Superboost today on Little Big Bear to win the 15:05, now 6/4! Head over to the Sportsbook now to back Ryan Moore's ride.

Lezoo for Ralph Beckett has attracted support from 9/110.00 into 7/18.00, and she did claim the two scalps of Meditate and Mawj in last season's Cheveley Park.

The filly has only been seen once this season, in the 1,000 Guineas - a race she didn't stay in, neither did she enjoy the soft ground. Two different factors today are in her favour.

Shaquille 9/110.00 won the Carnavon Stakes last time at Newbury, and he's a horse who has improved this term out of handicaps. He does deserve his rating now of 111, but it's quite a jump to take on Little Big Bear - who is 13lb superior. Shaquille could potentially be a front-runner here and a chance to trade him as a back-to-lay could be the answer.

Charlie Appleby's Noble Style was another non-stayer in the Newmarket 2,000 Guineas, but he has a few lengths to find with Shaquille from Newbury. He does have the first-time cheekpieces, though, and Appleby with headgear is an angle always worth exploring.

Sakheer didn't stay either in the 2,000 Guineas in soft conditions, and he'll be much happier back to 6f on quick ground. He was very impressive in the Mill Reef last term.

Big Race Verdict

Little Big Bear to win by 2L or more at 3/14.00 is quite attractive on the Lengthen Your Odds" part on the Sportsbook, but Sakheer and Lezoo should get closer back at 6f.

I'd rather use the each-way angle with Lezoo and we've also got 10/34.33 in the Without Favourite market on the Sportsbook.

She did win the Princess Margaret at the track as a 2yo, and a true end-to-end gallop here will suit her.

Final Word

Three of the seven winners yesterday were represented by Frankel, Sea The Stars and Galileo, and while the legacy of Galileo lives on, Frankel is turning into a mighty sire - at any trip.

His Gold Cup winner yesterday with Courage Mon Ami is a real boost for the staying division, that has lacked any sort of depth in recent seasons. These Frankels gallop all day, and his six Group 1 runners at this year's meeting have either won or placed.

Juddmonte tweeted yesterday "World class the world over". Few can argue with that.

I am back for another round tomorrow with Day 5 and good luck today. You can follow me on Twitter @DudmanAl.
