Saturday horse racing tips and insight
Jack Black represents local trainer Dan Skelton, who has a good record at the track, as he makes only his second chasing start on the back of a distant fourth-placed effort at Bangor-on-Dee.
Entitled to improve for that effort, which was his second start of the term having reappeared at Ffos Las in a maiden hurdle following a 354-day absence the month prior, there could be more to come from the seven-year-old.
Earlier in his career, Jack Black shaped with promise, showing talent in bumpers behind the likes of now 140-rated Quebecois, and at this venue when behind now 136-rated Bill Joyce, when ahead of Hartington, who has franked the form.
The son of Tirwanako, who was purchased for €70,000 as a three-year-old, also made an impression on hurdling debut at Newbury, finishing third in a race previously won by the likes of Chantry House and Gowel Road behind only Making Headway and East India Express, when ahead of the likes of David's Well and Hasthing.
Having shown enough ability to suggest he could be well treated from a mark of 107 if taking to fences and improving on his latest efforts, Jack Black may be worth keeping onside as he remains lightly raced and unexposed currently, has run well at the track previously, and represents a top local yard.

At a price of 11/112.00, Tullyhill warrants consideration for Willie Mullins under Danny Mullins, despite needing to bounce back from a pulled up outing at Navan.
The grey hasn't fired since a Listed win as a novice hurdler at Punchestown almost two years ago, struggling for consistency subsequently. He was sent off as the 11/43.75 favourite for the Supreme Novices' Hurdle at the 2024 Cheltenham Festival, but couldn't make an impression under Paul Townend before being pulled up at the Punchestown Festival in his final start over hurdles to date.
Yet to get off the mark over fences in six runs, Tullyhill has shaped with some potential as a chaser on occasion, second to Majborough on chasing debut before matching that finishing position when chasing home Mistergif, and second to subsequent Grade Two runner-up Fleur In The Park at Wexford, when finishing ahead of Flicker Of Hope.
The eight-year-old was pulled up when upped in trip to an extended 2m4f at Navan when last seen, with his rider reporting he became tired late on, and he returns to a more familiar distance of 2m1f here.
Whilst improvement is required from Tullyhill, it could prove worth keeping the faith in a horse who has shown to possess plenty of ability and shaped with such promise earlier in his career.
A mark of 143 could prove lenient for the point winner if he does enjoy a favourable trip and is on a going day, and he makes each-way appeal at the prices for team Closutton.

This looks wide open but 6-y-o Moon Rocket wasn't seen to best effect in a match at Doncaster four weeks ago and he shades preference with a more conventionally run race set to see him to much better effect now.
Doyen Quest boasts more chasing experience than most and with his jumping an asset he's a threat. The Jukebox Kid and Wade Out rate next best.

He's in fine form, I've been dying to step him up to two-and-a-half miles in a non-handicap so this Grade 2 Silviniaco Conte Chase is a race I've had in mind for a long time so it will be a disaster if the meeting is off because I wouldn't know where else to go.
He's very fit and very well. If you look at the way Dan Skelton's horse (Thistle Ask) has gone since that Haldon Gold Cup, we've tried to give him the best part of two stone so no wonder we couldn't go a gallop with him, so it might be a bit harsh to judge him on that run, his first run of the season. There wouldn't be too many that can lay up with Thistle Ask who has since won the Desert Orchid and is now rated 158.
I think Kalif Du Berlais has taken a big step forward since then and two-and-a-half miles will definitely suit him well, and I'd say he is my number one best chance of the day.
I am sticking to my guns with French Ship and Johnson White, assistant to Minehead's finest said after his Newbury win: "He's been put up 10lb, which is quite a hike, but equally it was a very strong performance.
"A mark of 146 means we're either towards the head of the weights in good handicaps or he makes the leap into graded company, he's in that territory now."
I do think he has the potential to be a graded horse, while A Pai De Nom could be well treated, and he looked good at Cheltenham, but he's a little short in the market considering he hasn't achieved as much as French Ship.
Double Powerful on last term's Aintree run is a big price and Mulholland is operating at around 18% from the last two weeks.
Big Race 1-2-3 Verdict:
1) French Ship
2) Goodwin
3) Double Powerful

There wouldn't be many horses that would win upon leaving Dan Skelton, but Williethebuilder bucked that trend with a decisive course and distance success a fortnight ago.
The seven-year-old had hinted that his time in the winner's enclosure was impending when staying on tidily to take third at Windsor back in November, a view that was endorsed with another fine effort behind the well handicapped Lanesborough at Doncaster.
The selection struggled to match the winner's acceleration and gear change that day, however he managed to score himself just after Christmas, quickening well after the last to beat a small, but select field in ready fashion.
On the face of it, an 8lb rise did look a touch excessive, but the smooth travelling Williethebuilder still won with a degree of authority despite missing out the last hurdle and, given he was allowed to coast home in the last 100 yards, maybe the imposte wasn't quite so unfair.
